Blow Torch Recs

Just about to whip off the headers on this ZX, three fasteners are totally solid and heat is the go to solution, I'm in the market for a blow torch, really don't want to pay any more than circa ?50 ish..

Can anyone recommend a particular brand ?

Took a punt on this, get it tomorrow, you can order gas but thats a 4-5 day turnaround it would seem, I'm guessing it must come from a specialist warehouse somewhere so I'll pick some up in Glasgow today.

Thought the three nozzle thing would be handy.

Just be sure to get the nuts nice and red before trying to move them Stuart.

Any plumbing supplyers will have the gas. Make sure to get yellow mapp gas rather than red bottle.

Blow torch done the job, 3 studs came out, so more heat on them in the vice to remove the nuts from the studs....

Oil pan removed without any drama, the pick up assembly runs deep hence dropping the headers, heres some pics you don't often see, nice ones of the oil pump impellor, selector fork, ring gear and cassette.

What's the actual goal here? What happened for you to want to take the sump off? This is the HP4 I assume?

No Alex, it's off my ZX, you must have missed my post a couple of weeks ago when I poked fun at myself for buying a pattern Rad for 85 quid and at the same time a guy on EB was selling an unused racing spare sump which I secured for 37 quid.. hankering after some mechanical work to occupy myself I thought both items were cheap enough and to a degree slaked my thirst for something to fix up, that was it really.. a wee if basic challenge.

That blow torch came in handy again, the nuts on the studs were seized solid, it was still a struggle even with a good roast and linking two wrenches for additional leverage, I recut the threads on the studs and cleaned up the locating holes with M8 x 1.25 tap and die, used a full bottom tap on the head as I got a good start with my fingers, used the wire brush attachment on my bench grinder to clean them up.. tried a dry fit with the headers...perfect.
