Anyone tried a Shoei Neotec 2 yet?

I don?t believe it, I?ve literally just tried one the other day as had the same modular thoughts as you re touring lid [emoji6]

It?s a very nice helmet, has the modern Shoei fit which is longer front to back therefore accommodating an intermediate-oval head shape well.

I?ve purchased a Schuberth C4, for two reasons, firstly it?s a more round-oval fit which works much better with my round head shape. Secondly, I personally much prefer the SC1 intercom in the Schuberth, as it is fully integrated with no boom mike, as it?s all integrated into the EPS/liner.

That being said, choosing between the two entirely comes down to fit IMO as they are both very similar and equally very high quality helmets.

Best of luck with your deliberations [emoji4]

I was just interwebs trawling and thinking about it rathsr than making any great plans.

I have always worn Shoei. I am interested in the wind noise and dynamics at speed on this Neotec, though its quite the price atm.

HJC, Shark, schuberth all also seem to fit which is good as the latter 2 both make cracking front flips too.

I'll probably use my HJC RPHA 10 for the NC500. It didn't get much love from me at first but the lining is more plush than my shoei nxr which makes it a nice place to have my head for xx hours.

I have the original neotec and it has been very good. Bit bulky if you are on a sportsbike leant forwards which I found with the chin and shoulder coming into contact doing blind spot checks but it isnt designed for that. Cant see much difference if any with the neotec 2 tbh, marketing guff.

Am using the original neotec too for touring. Great fitting and well built, smooth but solid flip action and with drop down sun visor and sena comms it?s perfect. I would assume the neotec 2 would be just as good.

Schuberth C3 Pro used to be the quietest lid on the market and I love mine. Very comfy and quiet. I'm looking forward to hearing from Oli on the C4.
One thing I don't like about the C3 Pro is the way the visor flicks open on a life-saver at speed.
I like to have my head up to see properly and "CLACK!!", scared the s*** out of me first time it happened, just what you don't need on a slip entry into traffic...
I wonder if the aperture is not right for a sports bike and me....hmmm

What head size are you Hugh? If you?re a Large you?re more than welcome to give mine a go?

First thing I?m going to try when mine arrives next week is a high speed shoulder check!
Will be like the Exorcist girl doing 360 degree shoulder checks, fingers crossed I don?t get stuck half way lol

Head size is 63, but the bigger problem is my Frankenstein corners. Perhaps I'd be better off with a square planter from Homebase

That?s 2XL in Schuberth?s size chart.

In my experience with the C4 there is a big jump in size going from L to XL. Reason is that there are only 2 shell sizes and the smaller one goes up to size L, whereas XL and above is the larger shell size.

Haha, wonder what the Sharp rating is [emoji23]

I would be interested to know if the Neotec 2 has better ventilation than the original. Ive got a Note for commuting and find its a pain in heavy rain. you can actiually get rain getting into the inside of the visor. Also the visor can twist slightly as you raise it meaning the pin-lock insert isn't always perfectly seated - again causing misting in poor weather.

Its a decent helmet but its not comfy on a sportsbikeshop due to the cut around the neck and ventilation not the best.

Ive had water in my neotec too, only in torrential downpours, not really anything otherwise. I found it was because the top air vents were open, closed no issue.

Most lids let a few water drops onto the inside face of your visor if you crack it open for ventilation during heavy rain.
Even with pinlock, it can steam up no matter how good your vents. All my current helmets do it. It's really annoying.

I get that but the Neotec is a lot worse than any of my other lids. I've nit had such problems even in properly heavy rain with my Xspirit 2 or Arai lids. There are quite a few threads on other forums where people report similar issues and the thought is that top seal edge is the issue and benefits from being lubricated with those little bottles of stuff you get with helmets.

Never had an issue with it steaming up,but in heavy rain if you?re heads tilted forward had water forced in thru top seal, nothing major but a few drops running down inside of visor.

Thats better than mine does. I also used it when I rode down to Valencia for the MotoGP. Torrential rain in the dark with a misted up visa was properly scary
