Last Autumn i did what i always do and changed the oil/filter on my bike as a winter lay up preperation. The bike had a Approved used bike service in the April (When i bought it) so will be due again next month.
I am a bit annoyed to find that a BMW dealer cannot stamp my book unless the oil is changed (again) having done 0 miles which means for me i effectively have to pay ?250 for an air filter and brake fluid change and write off the ?70 i paid for the oil/filter.

Wanted to keep a full franchised History but not under those conditions....

It's a lot, but it'll definitely pay off should you encounter a problem with the bike? I'm assuming it came with a two year warranty? I'll be biting the bullet for the last time this year, then it'll be going to a mechanic I've used for years [emoji106]

I dont think its unreasonable for a dealer to not warrant work they have not carried out especially if it has been done privately. The warranty is unaffected if you have the bike worked on by any vat registered garage, so you are not tied to bmw specifically.

If you can provide evidence of using BMW approved parts they are usually good with it. However, if they aren't BMW parts or labour then yeah I can see why they are taking the line.

I need to book mine in for a yearly, in that 4,000 miles its had brake fluid replaced, oil changes, filter changes. I know they will change the oil and filter then charge me for the privilege of having them do it. But I just see it as part of the game.

Yes it is an OEM filter and their approved oil to which i have retained the paperwork. They said they are ok to add in the book the work they will actually do(filter, Brake fluid) so i will probably go that way & take my chance......
