Throttle Free Play

My throttle has no free play and never has done.

On both my 2015 and the demo 2015 I rode before ordering it, there was very noticable 'free play'/lag in rain mode, but sport and race were fine.

Isn't the Lag in rain mode how it's supposed to be? , thats the point of ride by wire, releasing the power gradually while top end maximum bhp is limited

Just so we are all talking about the same thing, when the word "free play" is used I don't mean it's slack when the throttle is slightly opened. I'm talking about rolling it on as normal and nothing happening for the first few degrees of turn on the wrist.
Same for you Cavey?

No idea about rain or sport as I haven't tried them apart from the first 5 miles in the rain when I picked it up in March.
Race and user mode has the "free play"

I never had "free play" on the 15 but the 17 is definitely slicker and lighter on the throttle. It feels like they have reduced drag on the twist grip on the 17! Other main difference is the 17 has ABS Pro on all whereas the 16 did not come on all versions. Brakes feel upgraded, but only slightly.
Both are far better than the majority of riders anyway (myself included). Either way you won't be disappointed.

Sorry i may have caused some confusion here with my initial description? :-/ ....yeah just to clarify, i'm with Loupe....so the first few degrees of roll on nothing happens ....similar feeling to a traditional throttle cable that needs tightening, but of course you can't adjust on ride by wire!

I've just been out to the garage to check, and my 16 categorically does not have any free motion at the throttle tube before the engine repsonds.

I had a test ride on a 17 and my first thoughts were cables needed adjustment, I switched up to race mode no effect (no slick plug still running in) went to have a look but fly by wire, however 150 miles later it had either gone or I'd got used to it! unlike the front brake lever which even on max adjustment had way too much slack in it. all in all quite nice but I won't be rushing to upgrade, mind the heated grips would have been nice first thing Sunday morning.
