SNAP! :D

I started my strip, clean and "tart up" episode yesterday, spent most of the day getting down and dirty cleaning the bike and one of the first things I did after cleaning the front end was to fit my Evotech guards, massive difference in appearance :)

good choice there easy to fit and are a quality product mines been on nearly 2 years now

did you have problems with the R&G protectors ? Have had mine fitted for 2.5 years with no issues.

From my point of view having used R&G guards in the past I think the overall quality of the Evotech stuff is better, i never had any issues fitting the R&G guards admittedly but most of the ones i have used have been secured with zip ties and the guard itself was far more flimsy.

That was the reason I never got R&G this time. Both are similarly priced but I felt that proper fittings compared to zip ties was better. I never had an issue with any R&G products I've used on all my bikes and am still using they're cotton reels, fork sliders , crash bungs and engine case sliders.

I think i'll be using some of their crash bungs on my bike, i fitted some lightech ones today (the type that don't require the fairing to be drilled) and I wasn't impressed. Them being fitted to different engine mounting points rather than directly across from each other I can live with but having one sticking out about an inch further than the other just looked a little strange :D

I did fit some lightech chain adjusters and lifters, spindle protectors and bar ends which I am happy with.

I was looking into radiator guards the other day... As I've just bought the bike I thought I'd check to see if I already had any fitted. I was surprised to see that I had an r and g item fitted to the radiator already, what I was more surprised to see was that it was cable tied on! At least now I know that this is quite normal. I looked into the oil cooler guard to match (not sure why previous owner did one and not the other). As my rad cover is red, I'd need a red one. Apparently these cost more and will be over ?50 for a cover that needs cable tying on? I don't think so, I like the look of these evotech covers you guys have installed and think I'll just get a set and remove the r and g item. It may be of some use to one of the racers on here as a spare.

I look at it like this: rad protection is to protect the rad and oil cooler from stones causing damage when they get flicked up off the road surface (think we all know that). Securely fastened cable ties holding a guard in place makes little difference to having a guard bolted to the rad itself for that purpose. If there was an event whereby the cable ties were compromised to make them ineffective at holding the guards in place then something very serious must have happened to the bike, and a bust rad would be the least of my worries.

I very much like the look of the evotech guards but went R&G because they are so much easier and quicker to fit and remove. Never had any quality issues or corrosion, and each year I take them off to give the rad and cooler fins a careful but thorough clean.

Happy New Year!

Nice clean calipers by the way, I remember mine looking like that.

I fitted the Evotech too. Although straight forward enough to do, the bottom fixing didn't line up for me, as much as I tried I ended up drilling out the hole so I could get the bolt back in. I had R&G on my last bike, a Blade and that went on without removing the fairing. Didn't have any issue with R&G either and was fine securing it with cable ties. Both as good as each other really but I think Evotech edges it on quality. I just fancied a change as my tail tidy is Evotech too.

Wish the calipers were dirtier but not had a chance to use the bike yet. Only managed 250 dry miles before winter set in. Roll on dry warm days!!!
