Occasional ABS and Check Engine light

Problem solved. Seat off, positive battery terminal was hanging on it's last thread. Tracker still hasn't come back to life but I can deal with that later. Not too impressed with Park Lane for not picking that up in a ?317 service, but hey ho.... I can get on with worrying about the trip rather...

Occasional ABS and Check Engine light

Yeah Optimate does the initial test then goes straight into pulse charging- even immediately after a ride, which is another reason why I suspect (hope) it's the battery. I got the tyres at FWR, they've always been really good, but will also check the ABS sensor gap. Cheers guys!

Occasional ABS and Check Engine light

Hello guys and girls, long time no post! Got my 2015 back from a main dealer service last Tuesday, rode it home no problems. Brought it into FWR for new tyres today and on the way home it occasionally flashes the ABS light at me, and I've had a couple of slight misfires when getting gently back...

2015 S1KRR service, any independents in London?

Cheers all. Jap & German quoted ?265 inc VAT, sounds OK to me. I know FWR well, used them a lot, but as you say it's the techy stuff. Will give 'em a call later methinks.

Cheers Alex, will give 'em a try. Congrats on the new bike by the way!

2015 S1KRR service, any independents in London?

Hey all, annual service is due, it's been a sunny weekend/track toy, so is just coming up to 4000 miles. Any guide to what sort of prices I should pay? I did go for an extended BMW warranty, not sure BMW will do me any favours anyhow, but am somewhat skint so would like a decent job but...

    GPS Tracker

You can track it yourself if you want to- it's all there on the portal, you can set up geofencing, recall routes, check the bike's battery etc etc. The real benefit (and why it costs) is when you're bike goes astray, you get a crime number from the cops immediately, give it to BikeTrac and they...

    GPS Tracker

I'd say if you simply want to know where your bike is, there no need to splash out on a BikeTrac. What you're really paying for there is the proactive monitoring, alerting, and coordination between the BikeTrac and the Police- the latter is something I've seen in action, and is worth its weight...

    Battery charging time of year

I always seem to have bad luck with batteries, and Lead Acids like to be kept gently topped up. So given the KTM is doing all the winter hacking, and the BikeTrac does sip a little juice, I rigged up a solar charger on the roof of the bike shed. Working very nicely.

    Camera

Pretty happy with my Drift Ghost HD, bought secondhand for ?100 with a box of bits and a mic. S version is considerably better in low light though, so bear that in mind going into winter.

The "My S1000RR is brilliant" thread.

Oh, and if you've got problems with your S1000RR, start your own bloody thread! :wink-new:

The "My S1000RR is brilliant" thread.

My S1000RR is brilliant. Nothing's gone wrong, it has impressed, scared and tortured me equally over 18 months and 4000 miles of fun. Every ride is an event. Even thieves think it is brilliant, because they stole it. I got it back though, and it was still brilliant. In summary- brilliant. :D

That's it. I'm starting a "My S1000RR is brilliant" thread.

    2015 RR selecting neutral

Yup, my '15 isn't too bad finding neutral, but I don't like much slack in my clutch cable, so I've taken all but a smidgeon of freeplay out, makes neutral even easier. Just remember to check the cable freeplay at both extremes of steering.

?2-7000 Sporty Touring Commuter - Passenger friendly

I tried to, but the bars then feel too close. Needs some adjustment I think! This is pre-topbox addition:

?2-7000 Sporty Touring Commuter - Passenger friendly

Just picked up my 2012 KTM 990 SM-T yesterday (traded in the VFR). Naturally given the thing was beautifully valeted by the dealer, it pi$$ed down all the way home. Only done about 25 miles so far but... Things I like: Great punchy motor, feels really hard-edged and responsive. I've had a few...

Engine Rattle - 2015 RR, 4 months old!!

Takes me back to happy days on my FZR1000 Exup. When the Exup valve stopped rattling you worried, because it had probably seized. I'm interested how BMW have built the exhaust valves on the S1K- Exhausts are a pretty hostile environment for bearings.

Best mod you can make for easy filtering is ditch your mirrors and buy a Reevu helmet. Best bike accessory invented in my opinion...

?2-7000 Sporty Touring Commuter - Passenger friendly

As a 5th-gen (VTEC) VFR800 owner, I'd honestly suspect you'll be disappointed after the S1K. I've always liked Hondas but the VFR8 disappoints in some areas- build quality isn't great. Regulator/rectifiers will die. You will need to replace both camchain tensioners every 20-30,000 miles, the...
