OE Michelin Power RS disintegration / replacement?

Well I've got S22s on my blade and they would be my default choice, but they'll change the way the RR rides (given the flatter profile) and I'll need to buy a front too so it's an extra ?120 plus fitting. If anyone's had S22s on a gen 4 I'd be interested to hear their experiences!

OE Michelin Power RS disintegration / replacement?

So it turns out that Michelin Power RS tyres don't really like tracks with fast right hand exits. Was wondering whether my tyre pressures were responsible for this shocker, but spoke to the tyre specialist on site at Donington yesterday and he said it was a known fault with the Power RS that got...

    Slipping at lean?

What mode was the bike in? I had the bike doing all sorts of mad shit underneath me at Snetterton (on those same tyres) in the wet recently. I think if you get close to the limit of grip in rain or road mode the suspension and throttle are basically taken away from you and try to compensate. I...

    LS2 Helmets

I've had a couple of them, nicely made and no complaints!

Same here. Do you know what group you're in Timbo? Think I'm in the middle/fast group. Gets a bit feisty in there sometimes, there's something to be said for starting off at the front of the other group!

First Track Day - Advice & Pointers

I bought a bunch of pics from that day! Just not that one that showed the hills :D

First Track Day - Advice & Pointers

Or do what I do and hire a van for the day - ?60! Sounds like you had a great day - thanks for the write up. If you like your hills, get yourself a day at Donington next!

My understanding was that it will reduce the risk of tucking the front wheel if you're trail braking hard into an apex. But if that isn't your riding style then agree it doesn't have much use (unless it's wet!)

Lean angles on track - when do you run out of tyre?

I'm concerned more about crashing than lean angles per se - it's just good to know if the lean sensor can give you a sense of how much left you've got before stacking it!

Bear in mind Race Pro shuts off cornering ABS - if you like to trail brake and aren't a BSB level rider (looking at you BvG) you might still find that useful.

Good to know! I haven't noticed that in road mode yet, and that was doing mid 1.50s round Donington. I did notice the throttle intervention down craner curves and up starkey's bridge though. Dynamic sorted that out.

I would probably leave the bike in road mode to be honest - if you start getting frustrated with TC intervention then go up to dynamic but Oulton is a twisty track and I've had many a fruity moment there on bikes without any electrical assistance.

This is great - thank you!

Lean angles on track - when do you run out of tyre?

Do they teach you to get 2 feet of air in RoSPA?!! That must have been one hell of a humpback bridge!

Lean angles on track - when do you run out of tyre?

Great tips! Agree with all of them. Although it would help if you could actually reach the rear brake on a gen 4 :distracted:

Lean angles on track - when do you run out of tyre?

I'm the one with low lean angles who started the thread :biggrin-new: Passed my test in January 2018, but rode motocross bikes a bit as a teenager.

Lean angles on track - when do you run out of tyre?

Completely agree on both counts - getting on full gas early makes a massive difference, as does having a consistent braking marker that you can trust. The gen 4 does make it easier to get on full gas earlier than anything else I've ridden - and I'm sure I could be much more gung ho with the...

Lean angles on track - when do you run out of tyre?

Agreed on lean angle - I?m trying to minimise it on every corner, but the point remains I could be going faster if I had the balls to drop in a little quicker and lean more...
