I was in the same position as you, I found the Z1000 too big of a lump, the MT while great for you leave a to be desired for the pillion as the seat is poor. My issue was I needed something I could get both feet flat on the floor and I'm not the tallest bloke. If that's not an issue for you...

I would use an HP4 in exactly the same way I use my current bike, I'm a fair weather rider and don't do massive miles so whatever I buy will not end up with hugh miles but a bike is there to be ridden IMO

Interestingly I've got a pair of Draggin jeans and hate them, find them not much cooler than my leather pants due to the kevlar bits and bobs inside, generally uncomfortable both on and off the bikes. I was thinking more of the Air or Mesh style stuff
