ive just replaced the sump on mine after 5 years

I wrote my 2012 off (cat d ) Three and a half years ago I bought it back off the insurance Company for ?2300 and spent ?2500 on rebuilding it. ive done 18000 miles on it since and think its doing alright for a 5 grand bike ,so if I were you id to keep it repair it and enjoy .

I took the chance and fitted it this morning, Sweet a nut no more rattle on start up and its quietened the motor down on idle. Happy days

Thanks for the reply mate, I wondered that ive one here sat on the bench and I'm reluctant to fit it due to it jumping a tooth on the cam chain, but if you look at You tube they just uncrew then and fit the manual one straight in.

Has any one fitted a APE manual cam chain tensioner to there s1k and if so any tips/heads up. Cheers Billy

Well that's the third set of right hand switch gear fitted to me bike tonight and 2 on the left , What a p....s take ?116 EACH a side Great bikes but bad build quality Billy

Mines a 2012 with 20500 miles on im a bit peed off the are fantastic bikes but im gonna be on my 3rd set of right hand switch gear and I know about the sump problem so take care to keep it clean and greased/coated ect

thanks for the reply I thought it was the right hand switch gear, it got a good soaking yesterday and I went to start it this morning and the problem started, I need a new right hand switch now tho as I pulled it to bits lol. My sump has gone porus around the sump plug after I changed the oil...

Hi Has anyone had this fault , that when you turn on your ignition key the starter motor turns over and starts the bike it continues to run the starter motor when the motors running and it gets better the sump has gone porus at the drain plug is BMW still replacing them ? Cheers Billy

Yes they stopped the Good will gesture (FOC) last December 2015

Been a busy week end fitted 2 Dunlop sportsmart 2 tyres , new DID chain , MRA double bubble screen also Fitted and set up a HM quick shifter on the beemer , wow what a difference slick,fast positive shifts, best upgrade ive fitted to the bike ,well worth the money. Billy
