I spoke to Tamara at Racefit; they can gut the existing cat to allow a full free-flow exhaust. they need the bike in to do it to get the alignment perfect. Not sure on price but would expect a couple of hundred.

This is something I'm thinking of doing at the moment. I'd be very interested to see if anyone else has managed to do this? - My aim would be to get as near to a factory weld appearance as possible so the modification would be undetected.

Ash, When you say you have had them off, do you mean you have split the headers and removed the internals or changed the headers completely?

A pal of mine has a 2012 S1000RR and has fitted a set of akrapovic headers with the short stubby can. It coughs and spits at each gear change and sounds like a fast jet passing. This is fully decatted and has had no other modifications done to it. Runs perfectly well, and has a really nice flame...

Dealer has logged the complaint and will sort it at end of season... Quite pleased.

On mine it is about as resilient as cream cheese! Surely it's a warranty issue if panels are rubbing and removing paint???

going slightly off subject here, but has anyone managed to remove the cat core from an exhaust? I was thinking of cutting it and trying to get the cat contents out. At least then for future reference (MOT's etc...) it would look standard still...

Did mine the other night. Used a 4mm drill bit to break the weld then a centre punch. Came out really easy. To pull the baffle, I used a section of broom handle. Slotted it into the hole then pulled at an angle, it came out easy. So pleased with it. The pops and bangs are addictive... :-)

Just done mine; nearly screwed up as I was trying to take the whole end cap of the can, not just the small plate and twin pipe baffle! Doh!!! :grief:
