    Garage Flooring

Happy New Year everyone. I have been thinking about putting down some floor tiling in my garage. I have a fairly modern garage (12yo), with a concrete floor. It isn't quite smooth enough for my bike stands and mechanics chair, all of which have small castors, to move around as freely as I'd...

No bike track days at Silverstone in 2024

Not sure that can be it, cos they are still running car track days. Also just remembered that BSB is avoiding Silverstone next year too...

No bike track days at Silverstone in 2024

Visordown reporting this https://www.visordown.com/news/general/silverstone-cancels-2024-motorcycle-track-days Says they are back in 25... anyone know what's happening?

    Suitable constands equivalent

I guess you might be able to do that, but I don't think it would help with the issues I outlined. You still have to get the stand and bike to the same level, so the lugs engage - that's where there's a little bit of pissing about and where the three parts separate themselves.

    Suitable constands equivalent

Looks good. You said you don't leave it there long, can't you leave it like that for the winter? My bike has spent last 11 winters on the Bursig with no issue. That love/hate relationship with the Abba I mentioned in an earlier post in this thread might have broken down irretrievably today. The...

    Suitable constands equivalent

The ABBA is good for all the positions you can put the bike in. It is a lot more fiddly to get the bike onto than the other style of stands - I have a love/hate relationship with it. You would have got a bit of a deal on ABBA at NEC last week, they might still be doing an offer...

    Suitable constands equivalent

https://www.motorradteile-bursig.de/en/ I have one of these for my Gen 2, it has worked brillianly for 11 years. ... however later Gens have a narrower frame, so the lug you fit to the bike may stick out (it did with the 1jac). I use an Abba for the Gen4

    Another recall?

Don't... recall.. them using that terminology with me, if you'll excuse the pun. Sounds like what I called 2nd category, no FOC collection?

    Another recall?

They have 2 levels of recall, and if the fault comes into 2nd category the dealer probably won't collect FOC. I found this out with the 21RR cam chain tensioner recall, 2nd category recall. apparently a performance bike with risk of cam chain snapping over 10k revs isn't a big enough issue..

    Another recall?

According to https://www.bmw-motorrad.co.uk/en/service/recall-lookup.html Both my 20 (old shape) R and 21 RR have a recall with same code. Looks like this is all footpegs as the RR doesn't have pillion pack. My 12 RR is clear

    New Sales

I'm sure that's just down to the enthusiasm of one salesperson or dealership. I contacted my dealer recently cos my R was coming to the end of its PCP deal. I tried the new model. Its really nice but decided to keep the old one and paid off the finance. No one has followed up with me, so they...

    Annual Insurance Rant

Smug g*t :-) Never understood Carol Nash. Maybe they hate everyone inside the M25. When I got my first bike, every one of my mates were insured by them, told me they were great... but never for me. Over the years they have (until this year) either been amongst the most ridiculous quotes (?3400...

    Jamie Whitham Track Days

re instructors. I wasn't that bothered about getting instruction. This was my first time on track with the Gen 4 and I had lots of issues getting the bike ready for track, which took up the morning and in the afternoon I was just getting used to the bike and the circuit. However, my mate did...

    Jamie Whitham Track Days

Note to all - this seems to be happening a lot at the moment. If you send a private message it takes about 3/4 minutes for it to show up in your sent folder. Chances are that if you hit the send button correctly it sends the first time... but you don't get a satisfying confirmation in the screen.

    Jamie Whitham Track Days

I did this in Anglesey a couple of weeks ago. I'll be asking lots of Qs about this and especially getting a Gen 4 comfortable on track soon enough. For now, just wondering about the pics. Two definite advantages of these events are reduced numbers on track, so lots of room. They also give you...

    Running hot?

I did a week on the Gen 4 recently and I noticed the same thing. Took the Gen 2 out to confirm when I got back. I planned to check the coolant when I got the chance, maybe I don't have to seeing this....
