Yeah, I had the dremel out then thought better of it...the dealer drew a blank too. Cant imagine that it's a mistake in the manufacture so as you say, there should be a reason for it. The 2 rear bolts, under the seat, have the same issue. Strange

Thanks, all. Dealer provided me with 2 bolts that didn't have any shoulders on them. After fitting a rubber washer under the carbon, it fits well. Still annoying that you pay ?600 for these parts then have to faff around to make them fit...

Tried to fit the official M sport tank infills today... Shoulder of the standard bolt doesn't pass through the hole of the carbon part. Not a lacquer issue, as both left and right are the same. Plus, the (small) hole is right through the depth of the part... Dealer says it's usually "tight" but...

Apparently the machine has had a software update on the clocks. Will have to monitor to see if the issue re-occurs

My 2015 model does exactly the same thing. Its just another "quirk" (read: pain the ar5e) with these bikes...

BWM Are replacing the entire shock under warranty. Shocktubes are to cover the shock and protect it from the road crud that inevitably gets "flung" around the underside of the machine. My issue with these is that they, when wet, shall hold water and could INCREASE the chances of it rusting...

Same happened to me. BM also replaced the LHS switchgear under warranty. Search the forum for other tales of woe in this area...

Thanks guys. I treat mine with ACF50, but saddened to see yet another flaw in this machine. It's just not up to the quality you'd expect. I've emailed BMW so will see what transpires there. Also interesting to note your HP4 had the same issue.
