98dB track day experience at Donington

I sometimes wonder about 'noise testing' on TD's and how accurate the circuits equipment is. I understand they have to abide by noise control legislation and appease the local authority (just look at Mallory) but to be just a single dB over and lose your track day seems harsh at best.

98dB track day experience at Donington

Yeah I'd have been gutted to have been 'sent home' especially as the weather was stunning!

98dB track day experience at Donington

I was at Donington on a 98dB on Monday and was black flagged during my second session. I've got a 'road legal' Arrow slip-on end can but I was told that my auto-blipper was triggering the ride-by noise meter. I'm still not sure how this could happen as the noise meter is positioned on the...

    Helibars

It's pretty straightforward and the bars come with excellent and easy to follow instructions...from memory I think it took me around 90mins. You'll need a T55 torx bit for the bar ends, a T8 torx screwdriver for the switchgear and I'm sure the the yoke socket was 36mm. Again, all the tools...

    Not for the faint heart!!

I used to race a Daytona 675 which were renowned for false neutrals and dropping valves. As sure as eggs are eggs I got a false neutral at Mallory which thanfully was on the start finish line so I just had to pull the clutch in and coast. When I broke the engine down it looked exactly the same...

Cheers for the feedback Richy170...you certainly seemed happy with the results! I have family in the US so I'll probably end up getting a pair shipped over as a 'gift' as they only cost ?200 over there! Enjoy and ride safe!

    TracStar HeliBars

I wasn't aware Gilles did risers for the 2015 RR...but being Gilles I'm sure they'll be great quality. How much are they?

    TracStar HeliBars

Cheers for that great feedback guys! I also suffer from lower back pain too and I don't want to be hindered on long journeys. I noticed they'd recently launched a new model with an extra inch for the 2015 bike so I reckon mows the time to get a set. I'll look forward to seeing how you get on...

    Polishing the polished swinging arm

I've used Autosol in the past but it's always been on highly polished surfaces - chrome bumpers etc. The only problem I could see is that you'd end up polishing the whole swing arm to avoid a couple of highly polished and 'shiny' spots. Hope this helps
