Re: Oil Change I'm glad I changed the oil now. You should of seen the colour after just 1000 miles. Wouldn't like to see it after 6000! How do you upload pics on here.....?

Unfortunately not. In my previous services I've just stuck to the manual and gone with the Castrol Power 1 Racing.

Halfords have a 10% discount on all items today, so guess what this tight boy has just invested in!

Cheers Grandad. Looks like that's my telling to change the oil and filter before the trip then. I could drain it out and give it back to the dealer who would most likely put it back on the shelf.

6000 miles! I should be fine for another season then. I wonder if a dealer themselves would even bother changing the oil if I used them for a service....

So basically I should be fine unless I have a warranty with BMW?

The bike had a full service at the start of this year, but sadly I could only manage 1000 miles before it had to be put away for winter. Is it going to need another oil change at the start of next year after only doing 1000 miles???

Recently travelling round Europe I was getting 130 miles till the light came on and that was in sports mode. Would of got even more in rain mode. I fill the tank right to the neck so I can see the fuel, and normally do it with the bike standing upright to ensure you get the maximum in the tank.

Thanks for all the info everyone. Much appreciated. If I can't get the 911 for a cheap price then I will have to see the local dealer and hope he will accept the ?10 to change the service date when it's due. Or there might be someone in the NE that has the 911.

Thanks for that. Some good points there. I've always done my own servicing so I don't really want to pay someone for a job I can do. But like you say, there is always the goodwill contributions and warranty etc to consider. I doubt I will be buying the 911 anyway as it is just too expensive...
