S1k loses to KTM 1290 Superduke on track?

Totally agree. Either the KTM rider is a better rider, or the BMW rider is hanging back deliberately. I know someone who could pass both of those guys on a GS, and I'm not joking!

I'm with you... I'd prefer to buy the complete package than have to spend extra to get it as I'd want it.

I imagine that active/semi-active suspension would work quite well somewhere like the IoM TT. It's 37 miles of varying road surface - basically what we ride on, so would be surprised if most high performance vehicles end up with this type of suspension as standard in the future. I tried to get a...

It'll be no great hardship if I have to wait until 2015. Historically, I've always tended to swap/update my bikes after 2/3/4 years. I've had pretty much all of the top Jap, sports bikes over the last 30yrs and never imagined that I'd be the proud owner of a BMW motorcycle - how things change...

It can't be more than a bog HP4.

    Straight-line Headshake

The reason I asked if it's always done it, is because front end problems are usually caused by a problem at the rear. Head-shakes at certain speeds and riding conditions could be caused by something as simple as the rear wheel in need of balancing. If the rear is not balanced, it doesn't...

    Straight-line Headshake

Hi Dave, has it always done it, or is it something the bike has just started to do?

    Latest S test ride

It's what I noticed straight away; the new bike just felt more sorted and polished. I'm reluctant to spend money on my current machine because by the time I've made it comparable to the latest I might as well have put that money towards the latest one - but I will be waiting to see what...

I don't disagree with your suggestions, although there would be a cost involved in doing certain things. Two things stick in my mind... I couldn't fathom was why it sounded so much rortier than mine, and the throttle response was crisper?! As it happens, I wouldn't swap it for the latest...

    Filtering

Me too. Virtually my whole journey to and from work is spent filtering. It's not what the bike was designed for, but it's sort of fun in a weird kind of way - a bit like a video game... it certainly keeps me focused! My route takes me from the outer suburbs of north London all the way through...

    Latest S test ride

I test rode the latest S1000RR today - bugger!!! I hate these pesky manufacturers; they know that they didn't quite get it right first time so they tweak and hone to get even closer to perfection and have made me want to spend 'more' money! The changes and tweaks are only small but they...

    Alternative fuel

The bike lives!!! No side effects - all back to normal :) I don't think that I'll be doing that again.

    Alternative fuel

I almost drained the battery last night trying to start it, so had to put it on charge. It was fully charged in the west for another attempt this evening. Well, she spluttered a few times but kept having to rest the battery and starter for a few mins before trying again. Each attempt the...

    Alternative fuel

Hi Phil. I've done as much as anyone could do, cleaning all places where fuel would go, the only thing I didn't do is take the plugs out, which is probably quite crucial! The only reason I didn't take them out is that I don't have the coil removing tool. If it has to go to the dealer at least...
