Hi all, looking for some help with my Gen 2. I've done some searching on here and on the net but still looking for some guidance. The bike will be road and track. Prefer it to be set up for the track and to sacrifice the comfort on the road for better performance.

Shock - I'm thinking of going with a Ktech Lite. Used one on my old ZX10r and it worked fantastically. I've used Ohlins (only "OEM" spec) and that was a nightmare to setup. It seems on the forums that Bitubo works well with our bikes? Opinions welcome.

Forks - I don't really have the cash for a cartridge kit let alone full forks. From what I have read good performance can be had with servicing and using Motul 15W for oil? To give you some scope I found my 1199s Ohlins forks worse then the Show BPF's on my ZX10r. Looking for more of the BPF feeling and hate that noticeable dive that the 1199 had when braking etc.

Any advice and opinions are greatly appreciated.

I don't think you can go wrong with a Ktech rear.
The front is more subjective and cost dependent.
I personally have Ohlins NIX30 cartridges...but thats just one of many 'solutions'. I got them 2nd hand, changed spring weights and had them serviced.
Ktech do SSK valves...those with correctly weighted springs are probably enough for most.
KYLEZX7R on here maintains/builds suspension using all the big manufacturers, he'd be worth chatting to.

Ran out of adjustment on the front 1st, rear shock appeared serviceable until my riding improved. Used Bitubo fr and rr and was very happy with it

Same as above really. Had no issues with the rear and could get it set up nice but front was just a pig. I swapped my oem forks with a guy sell8ng butubo forks which saved some money. Night and day better now. They were set up by buildbase i was informed

Thanks for the responses guys.

Going with the consensus it would seems that a fork upgrade would be the better place to spend the money before the shock?

I'm around 85kg without gear, is it likely I will need to respring?

Unfortunately the budget is limited so thinking cartridge first and respring the shock (if necessary).

Anyone selling a used cartridge kit at all?

I just setup searches in eBay.
Ohlins NIX30's come up a fair bit. We're about the same weight, I put 9kg/mm springs in my NIX30's because I wanted a road bias. I need to wind on the preload for track to support it better under breaking. You might want to consider 9.5's to start with.
Good thing about Ohlins/K-Techs are the abundance of parts and options.

I would speak to Kyle / MCT / 100% Suspension and gain some feedback from specialists.

Thanks Alex,
did you have to alter the spring at the rear or did the preload work to get the sag in the ballpark?

I'm on a Bitubo Rear Shock - bought it and the NIX as a set.
The one I got was an XFF041 with XFF031 V2 parts grafted on, built by Buildbase...it doesn't fit well/the installer couldn't make it fit right...so I'd recommend getting a XFF031 V2 proper or the K-Tech 35DDS/lite. People don't rate the Ohlins TTX Rear for our bikes as they have a tendency to cavitate.
My rear spring is also 9kg/mm.

I think though you can save a s**t load of cash/time by getting the standard forks re-valved and resprung. It's all they really need. I bought mine on impulse cause I'm like that ;)

That is my concern with a cartridge kit. The cost and improvement is very likely to outway my ability. I'm generally the lower half of the fast group track day pace so maybe a revalve would be best.

Mike I have some ohlins cartridges for sale and I might also have a shock, not definite on the shock yet though . I can also fit the ohlins cartridges if you send me your forks

Before I went bitubo, I had k-tech valve and respring at front done by hm racing edenbridge. Was happy with that. Bitubo was a deal I couldn't turn down lol

Hi Bananaman. I spoke with MCT yesterday and they advised a Ktech valve and piston kit along with springs if needed and that would make around an 80% difference in the front end. Ohlins NIX30 etc is more 90-95%.

I've picked up a TTX shock so just the front end to "sort". I'll go with what MCT advised unless Kylezx7r and I can sort a deal out for the cartridges. Makes more sense to go all in if the opportunity is there.
