As I suggested this section for the forum I kind of feel duty bound to be the first to post. Thanks of course to the moderators for thinking it was a good enough suggestion to create a new section in the forum.
My thoughts were to provide a spot for anyone not only to discuss, trips, whether they're forays into Europe, further afield or closer to home but also perhaps share routes, hotels, comments or suggestions on anything related to trips you do or are planning and perhaps might like advice on.

Here are a couple of hotels we stayed in last year that were pretty good, first one in Chamonix in the French Alps, hard to find a reasonably priced hotel in Chamonix but this place wasn't too bad and it's close to all restaurants and bars in the town http://www.hotelarve-chamonix.com/en/ plus a short walk to the Mont Blanc Cable car, if you've never done it, you should check it out on the website http://www.chamonix.net/english

The second one is in Menaggio on Lake Como, very pretty around there and this hotel is 100 metres from the lake and has secure garage parking available

I've got a good few other recommendations for places to vist and probably a good few hotels here and there for anyone planning a trip, mostly French & German places which as time permits and anyone is interested in I'll post up here

I went to the Alps in 2013 for an amazing week with a group from all over Europe (and Argentina) who had never met before (forum meet). It was brilliant even though there was a fair bit of pigeon English used! On the way down I rode from Dover to Lake Constance on Day 1, getting to a very nice hotel for the night which I would recommend:

For anyone that is visiting the Nurburgring I can recommend Hotel Wilhelmshoehe, http://www.hotel-wilhelmshoehe.de/

I have stayed here dozens of times, family run English speaking, good food, secure bike parking in a purpose built garage. very relaxing place. 20 mins from the Nurburgring, half an hour from Cochem.

Northern Ardennes Hotel de la Poste http://www.hotelposte.be/index.asp?taal=en once again secure parking, great location, lovely food etc etc.

Yep I've stayed in the wilemshoe too. Nice but a bit out of town. tend to use blau ecke in adenau if you fancy a night on the town

Agreed, Hotel Wilhelmshoehe is way out of town and that is part of the reason why I stay there, I find it very relaxing after a hard day riding either on track or on the local roads.
I did look at staying in Adenau once and Blau Ecke would be my choice too.
