Lock on seat cowl

Tried to remove my seat cowl but the lock won't turn at all

The key goes into the lock no problem but just will not turn

The lock is well lubed and I've never had any problems previously

I've pushed and pulled on the cowl but the lock is not for moving

Has anyone had the same problem ?

Any suggestions welcome

Insert and remove the key a billionty times and it may dislodge any stuck pin.

Dont force it.. As Alex said, push the key in and out very fast for a few seconds then try to turn it. Use wd40 then try doing the same thing again, never force the key to turn.
Sometimes the keys carry dirt, I clean my key every few months.

Can you try your 2nd key (if you have one?) - maybe the one you're using has worn a bit to match the ignition barrel but is now out of sync with the cowl. Clutching at straws of course...

The other thing is maybe fully insert the key, but then pull it back a smidge (note: highly technical term) and try that?

Tried the spare key, same result but thanks for the suggestions

I suppose the last resort is to take it to the dealers and get them to sort it

You could try to make a small tool like this in the pic, the discs inside the lock slide up and down and are sprung with very small springs so they can sometimes get jammed in the up position, a little movement in the opposite direction might do the trick. A Locksmith would try this using a tool like the one in the pic.
