Hi, Im defecting from Ducati (30+yrs) and will very soon be a MSport owner. Alas I got addicted to EU track days, and the BIM is more suitable. In process of selling my current Ducati. I will still have an old 916, but want something easier to ride on track. Plus I havent had an IL4 since my old Big Kat. Fancied a change and got fed up with paying stupid money for small parts.

Welcome, no 7k exhausts here but I am not sure they less stupid money in otherways.

Interested to hear how you adapt from one to the other. The RR is more stop turn start imo

As long as I dont get charged £20 for a vitron o-ring, things will be fine. Or have to replace fairing screws as they rattle out, or if the finishing of casings/fasteners arent cheese. Then yay! The new Ducati's do nothing for me. Plus they are overpriced and overhyped. They need an extra 100cc.

I'll adapt to the stop start nature. I will miss the lunacy of the 1299S, but i wont miss the boil in a bag testes. My only concern is if the nissens are as good as the brembos, but nissen are pretty decent. So i doubt there will be anything for me to worry about. Mates have s1krr's, so i get why people rate them. 1299 was fine until they snick 6th....

Im selling my 1299S. 15k miles with full akra, be ready by this weekend.
That’s some change of scenery! 1299S are lovely and much narrower, but the S1kRR has much better electronics and a more forgiving power delivery. But it might feel a bit ponderous into the bends compared with a well setup 1299. Are you a suzzies tweaker, or a plug and play type?

Congrats, I’ve got an M1000RR along with a Ducati V4R with full Akro system

Also previously had an S1000RR Msport so happy to answer any of your questions

The electronic sussies on the 12 was pretty good tbh, just needed the front n rear stiffening up for track. It tended to squat and pump on default. Other than that I left it alone as it seemed to work for me. I had the sag etc all set up when i bought the bike. I will do same for bim, but i will spend some time OEM to understand it better before I do anything.

The 12 was great around the track and never let me down once. But the heat is something else. Esp at a 40° Almeria.

My 12 was tweaked a wee bit, I ran a sigma slipper as the EBC is about as much use as a chocolate tea pot. RCS17, HM SABS QS as OEM is pants. DP rearsets in race shift. I had the fuelling sorted by a Rapidbike Pro which worked at treat. Most are removed as the RCS and the HM QS transfer to bim. Clutch will be for sale. Less than 300m on it.

V4R is a different beast to the V4, cant afford one of those and my 12 overtook enough of them that its all relevant to the rider. By the same token Ive been yoinked by mouldy old R6's.

I ride for fun, times are nice but Im too old (60) to be that bothered bout it too much. Just want to improve safely and within my boundaries. Ive enough broken bones memories and I dont need any more.

Congrats, doing well to be doing trackdays at the age of 60. Well done 👍

Ive been two wheels continuously since i was 15. Never lost the love of it. Will continue as long as i stay fit and able. My target is George Onslow who was still riding at 102 yrs old. :) Legend

Welcome to the forum.
The Nissen set up is good.
Welcome to the forum. Totally get your attitude, I’m 69 and use my RR purely for track in Europe and find it’s all I need. I got lost in all the acronyms but agree that the biggest difference on track is riding ability rather than arcane suspension set ups, important though I’m sure they arr. And I’m not the oldest in the group I go with - there a guy in his 80’s!! I can more or less keep up with some of the younger riders but I only started track a decade ago so don’t sweat it - like you, a lifelong two wheels man with intermission for children..

I still miss my 1299S sometimes, I may have another as well as my 1000RR. 15K miles is a bit leggy for a 1299 unless you're giving it away though. Mine had done under 4k when I sold it a couple of years ago
