Had to take the RR back to Bahnstormer this morning as they didn't set the sag for me when I collected it last week.

Nice ride over & the job was soon done. I also got a nice RR T-Shirt as a gift for the inconvenience of having to go back.

Had a good ride back - the bike was definitely more settled at the back and much more confidence inspiring. I revved it out to 14k revs in 4th for the first time - Bloody hell :hororr:

Anyway, I was nearly home, when a youngish Mum in her early 30s with a car full of kids nearly had me off. I was turning right from a major road to a minor road at a T Junction with a right turn lane. The left lane of the major road was pretty full of slow moving traffic and they were several cars trying to emerge from the minor road. I had been indicating for about 50 metres and was going no more than about 10 - 15 mph as I started to make my turn. Said young lady apparently hadn't seen me (despite being really careful to look for bikes apparently) & started to pull out. I blasted my horn and aborted the turn but she still hit me. Somehow I stayed on, my lovely new bike is no longer quite so pretty.

There were witnesses and she seems to be doing the right thing - I should get a call from her insurance company soon. Bahnstormer quickly emailed a quote which I forwarded. It's just the can and the scuff plate on the swing arm is scratched, so just the ?1,066 :distress:

I know it could have been much worse - I did well / was lucky to stay on and the bike is still perfectly ride-able, but it's just a PITA.

At least a nice pub lunch with my good lady cheered me up a bit.

I feel your pain...

Today I got to drive my new car (to me) to Bishop Stortford...and then took the train home.
On our way to Norwich we found out the water pump didn't work/miraculously stopped working within 100miles of our buying it.

Managed to dump it a BMW in Bishop S. Can't wait for the ?600 bill to come. Missed a wedding and birthday celebrations.

I asked for that at AJ when I picked it up on Friday & was told it needs no alternations at all to leave it..

How did the setting of the sag go?

They're talking about preload. The manual does a pretty good job on explaining how to set it,just make sure you calibrate the suspension if you make changes to preload.

Ah right I see. How do you know what the preload should be set to for each individual then? I take it adjusting the preload involves using spanners to do this yes? Or is this done electronically?

You'll need couple spanners and the plastic socket from the toolkit. As for how much to adjust it the manual only gives measurements for an 85kg rider,I'm not far off that so set it as per manual and it feels ok.

Preload

Front preload can be adjusted manually via the adjuster at the top of the right fork leg and rear preload via the adjuster on the rear shock. Instructions can be found in the Owner's Manual on p67. Once you have finished making any adjustments you will then need to calibrate the system. The calibration is required so the DDC system can take into account any changes to ride height so it can accurately calculate suspension travel and adjust accordingly. Adjusting front and rear preload correctly is fundamental to getting the best from the DDC system.

Thanks guys, I'll give this a look up in the handbook and maybe give it a bash. Once the manual adjustments have been made with spanners, does the handbook clearly tell you how to then calibrate the system?
