On my previous bikes (all Hondas), there was a gauge on the swing arm that indicated how much the chain had stretched and when it was due for replacement.

In the S1000RR manual, it says to check the chain wear you need to measure over 10 rivets - if it's 144mm or more, chain ready for replacement.


Well, I measured mine out of curiosity, it's already at 144mm and I've only done 1000 miles!

This can't be right, surely!?
 
Does seem wrong, assuming low miles I'd challenge at the dealers, see if they can get BMW to replace gratis

imo, dont all ways be-leave what you read, i recon the chain spec is probably different to whats in the book. :)
