The Nurburgring, the Autobahn or the Isle of Man to name 3 aren't tracks. And 75% of the first 4 gears aren't unexploitable at the right time and place for some people. It's the same tired old opinion that mid range tyres are all anyone can use on the road.

I've stumped up the money for 3 brand new S1000RR's, so obviously I like them. Though my Ducati Panigale 1299 S was a much better looking bike. But when I was 19 my Kawasaki Z1R 1000 and Honda CBX 1000 were closer to beauty to my young eyes.

You're in denial, the Gen 2 headlamps were just about acceptable . The Gen 3 headlamps and silencer look like a cheap scooter.

The Gen 4 is better looking though, isn't it.

The gen 3 is the ugliest S1000RR, I'd have to open the garage door with my eyes shut if I owned one.

I've had a 13, 22 and now a 24, each generation was a bit better than the last. Borrowed a R when my RR was in for a service once, and it felt a bit flat and cheap. Considered a M1000R last time but all the bling makes it too expensive IMO.

If the cats have been removed the 2 rear lambda sensors probably aren't necessary.

I reckon I could get my hand behind the radiators to twist the lockwire, without removing the fairing panels. I bought the BMW guards last time, because I had £45 of goodwill to use.

Did you have to take the fairing side panels off? I know that's not a big job, but I wouldn't do it if I didn't have to?

My modified 99 R1 and 2006 K6 GSXR1000 would both stand right up in 2nd gear around 4k rpm, with just a little slip of the clutch. Tried that on my Gen2 S1000RR with the anti wheelie off and not much happened, but it was around 30 bhp stronger at peak revs. Right or wrong 200+ bhp is what...

That's was my thinking when I bought a 1299S Panigale. Turns out the 1198 was the last torque monster.
