    Gen4 2022. Oil leak.

I’m not an expert, but I am fussy about my bikes. The oil leak caused by a faulty/unseated seal in the oil pump sounds like a manufacturing fault. The fact that it affects some but not all suggests this isn’t a design fault, but an assembly issue. I wonder if, once it is wrong the casing is...

    Motomillion M1000RR troubles

Regardless of the run in minimum, what makes anyone think they can do the very minimum run in and then make a load of unauthorised race engine tune changes, and then do max power dyno runs with no further bedding in? Zero, and I mean ZERO, sympathy. It’s actions like this that increase costs...

    Motomillion M1000RR troubles

I had a Gixxer L7 and threw it back after a full crank change failed to stop the vibes being off the scale. All done under warranty. A 400 mile S/M1000RR isn’t fully run in yet and won’t have had the dealer first service. There needs to be 1000km (600miles) minimum before this happens. At that...

    New to me S1000 RR

SW -Motech every time for S1000RR K67 models. I have tail pack and panniers. Beautifully made and designed for the S1000RR. And when you arrive and what to scratch removal is tools free and leaves just a pair of these on your pillion peg mounts (pegs will fit with panniers mounted if required)

Unfair PCP & HP deals - £1000 compensation

BMW have taught us all to ignore their FS deal and distrust the offering. You reap what you sow. I do wonder how much the dealers make out a sale. Not nearly as much as we think, I’ll wager. Hence the incentive to sell overpriced finance and ‘extras’.

What did you do with your bike today?

Went out to the garage - coffee in hand - stroked her tank, spun her wheels, sniffed the damp air, and tucked her up again.

    Lind BMW Norwich to close

Bikes sales have crashed - even GSs. Yamaha is looking to go on line only, so where this puts PDIs, servicing etc. Lord only knows. Bet Lind is cashing chips before the glut. I just hope North Oxford and Wollaston stay around

Good luck to your boy. Hope he makes a quick and full recovery and hasn?t been put off by the nupties in their tin boxes. Also hope the claim goes smoothly and he?s back on the road soon.

    Don't groan...Tyres

Re: Don't groan,,,,Tyres I wondered about M9RRs too - a good price at FWR. Let us know how you get on, Oli.

    Don't groan...Tyres

Re: Don't groan,,,,Tyres NB - if you do this to your road bike, be very careful. It isn't the tyre that's the problem - as stated above, 180 - 200 will all fit, and there's a strong argument for 190s on the Gen4, BUT (and it's a very BIG BUT) your insurance company will be looking for any...

    S1000RR v RSV4 v V4R v SMC690R

If I understand it correctly, you've got an HP4 for the track, so it's highly unlikely you'd need another bike for those duties. Your son has a 125 so anything you have will blast past him and leave him struggling - I can imagine the overtakes he'll have to make to keep up with you as you...

    Front paddock stand

I've just been out to the man cave and an old Micron stand did the trick. It's the type with the two prongs on each side that swing on a counterbalance weight. The front prongs sit under teh front of the the fork on each side and the rear prongs sit under the brake calliper mounts. On that...

    Front Fork Issue (Gen4 owners)

I've just come off the S1000RRforum.com site and can give you all an update on the front fork "knock" The link below refers, but in short, BMW USA states: "Early production bikes have manufacturing tolerances which cause the problem. The issue will be corrected in the future production. The...

    Front Fork Issue (Gen4 owners)

Hi Soof - standard 2020 M-Sport with all settings as factory. Front forks 119.79mm fully extended. So call it 120mm.

    Front Fork Issue (Gen4 owners)

    Front Fork Issue (Gen4 owners)

Hi Soof - it's a two man job. bike on side stand. 1st Man stand on left of bike and turn the handlebars hard right, put right foot on side stand base, grip both bars and lean back till front comes off the ground. 2nd man measure distance from axle casting to fork seal (a vernier gauge is best...

    Front Fork Issue (Gen4 owners)

Just one more thing that I experienced with my Fireblade that was almost impossible to diagnose and was discovered by accident - Wheel bearing failure. Bear with me (no pun intended). My Fireblade, a '97 RRV (so when they were bullet proof) had about 5k on the clock and was 8 months old. I...

    Front Fork Issue (Gen4 owners)

Further to my post above - handbook page 108 - 109 refers to front preload. It should be 40mm of travel from no load (fully extended) to bike plus rider. A lot more than this, and you could be bottoming out on fork travel.

    Front Fork Issue (Gen4 owners)

re 84 - I know you're experienced so hesitate to ask, have you checked the front brakes? Also, if active suspension fitted, run the engine whilst checking front fork action (bouncing the forks) as the electronic damping will need to be active whilst you do it. Excessive front tyre wear may be...

    Luggage Gen 4 options

Ah! Top box is completely waterproof. So I guess we pays our money and takes our choices - more space, or water-tightness, but not both. Either way, beats the rest of the potential solutions.
