I used a Kriega 30 on my 2014 to go to Barcelona and it was fine. Just make sure to protect the paint otherwise it could mark up as the rear seat isn't exactly the biggest.
Let's face it, if you manage to compress the rear shock enough to break the hugger then the hugger is the least of your worries. Getting your nuts down from under your ears is a higher priority.
If they (BMW) have to change the length of a cam bolt then that would suggest it wasn't long enough in the first place. Why should you have to pay for that?
It was a bit of a fiddle but I got them in front of the seat lugs on the subframe. That way they wont slide back. I can take some pics if you want them.
I took a Kriega 30 to Barcelona and it was faultless. I used the 2 straps under the seat and put two of the Kriega loops around the sub frame. Make sure you put some gaffa tape or something on the seat unit to protect the paint
