First big ride on the S1RR first ever crash.....

I had a left hand low side two years ago and R&G Crash bungs along with GB Racing covers saved the bike from any fairing damage. The R&G bolt bent so replaced the crash bung BUT last year got home from uneventful ride out and noticed replaced bung was missing and bolt had sheared for no apparent...

My 2011 BMW S1000RR in Yellow

The quality of GBRacing protectors is very good ~ had a small off on road and they along with R&G crash bungs saved bike from any real damage. Fit is straight forward and spot on (go over standard casing) Think several race teams use GBRacing products so nuf said!

    Austin racing , sc project

So did the sound test this morning meter 8ft from rear of bike - 7,00 RPM ~ 107 DB for both larger & smaller insert , without ~ 109 DB . Didn't have the meter when bike had cat fitted so can't state difference. Also how accurate meter is compared to track day tests is any ones guess. But to...

    New tyres

I always run 7" x 5" plates for more years than I care to remember. Have only ever been pulled up twice , once the plod got his tape measure out so I told him not to bother stating - little chat told me to change it and off I went. Second time followed by unmarked police car , he got his book...

Worth upgrading 2nd gen to 2015 model?

I'm of the same opinion. If / when I change it won't b for another BM I've also spent more than I care to remember on my bike , and I am the sort of owner who tends to keep a bike more than 18 months. e.g. Still got R1 I purchased new in 1999 , added KTM 990 Superduke in 2010 purchased S100rr in...

    2015 S1000RR Depreciation?

It all comes down to cost per smile!! No point in having a bike and keeping mileage down to preserve value. I can't work out some people who advertise a bike e for sale which is say 3+ years old and only covered 1,500 miles (usually a Ducati !) What is the point?

    Front tyre size ?

I would stick to what is recommended , BM don't spend big bucks on tyre spec for no reason - see you are going for non standard size on the back as well !! If you are using the bike for road use and you have an off your insurance may frown if they are sharp enough to pick up on the non...

    2015 S1000RR Depreciation?

They say that as soon as a new vehicle leaves the show room you lose the VAT - so that ?2,500 of your hard earn't ?15k :confusion: One year old and 5,000 miles - what you are offered will depend on what you part ex it for, And how thieving the Salesman feels!!

    Ohlins steering damper clamp recall

Just back from a quick - short ride. Bike up on bike lift turned bars and they locked! Checked over and its due to Ohlins Steering Damper bracket fracturing letting damper move back and forward! The bracket is broken right across and its above bolt that's torqued to bike. Damper is now...

    Big hugger.

I'm running a hugger without the hole on abs bike and have had no issues , the standard hugger is about as much use as a one legged man in a arse kicking contest! Replaced all black plastic with ilmberer carbon apart from the hugger which is from Carbon Web and the quality is up there !!

    Insurance

I would just make sure that they have got your and bikes details correct previously £250 and 30% less for a bike than is worth more than twice !! Doesn't stake up to me. The last thing you want is a clam being refused. I'm the MCE - old duff clean licence max no claims very low risk area an I'm...

Insurance and me a happy man

[I will start by seeing what one combined policy might cost me, but I will look at separate policies. If I understand what insurance companies have told me in the past, if I split the bikes onto different insurance policies (just to get S1K onto c. 3/4000 miles SD&P) then I can only apply my...
