New 2019 BMW S1000RR: Rumour, Gossip and Intrigue...

I ordered mine knowing that the first gen will always have issues but being confident BMW would be better at dealing with them than most other manufacturers. I'd like to think that this delay will mean other issues wil pop up from the racing which will also be addresses by the time we get the bikes.

    Redbull Ring, Rehm Racing

Haha\ the haircut was the result of a drunken evening after Redbull Ring. It seemed a great idea at the time and I liked the mohawk but it was so badly done I had to shave it off this morning before going to work! Deffo want to grow a decent one back again!!

Metzeller and Pirelli slicks; they work well on the BMW. I?m a big fan of the Dunlop KR106/108 slicks but I?ve not set the bike up for them and they are very expensive.

Yeah I?ve been on sport 3 for the last few events and switched first to sport 1 and then to race 3 At Mugello. The tracks are so grippy TC hardly ever cuts in but it did save my ass a couple times during the race when I got over excited!

    Redbull Ring, Rehm Racing

Cheers guys, I'm proper stoked :) Rehm Racing run weekends across Europe. Its more relaxed than the UK race scene but there are loads of really fast people due to it being on all the best tracks. Its usually a chrono test day followed by two days of track sessions in the mornings and races in...

Its the rivets on my exhaust carbon tip coming loose, it's making a right racket just now! Only gone and won my first race today :) what a place to do it as well! Got into the 2'03'' today.

    65 degrees!

    Redbull Ring, Rehm Racing

Immense! Using 16/43 , it?s pretty much essential. 185mph on the main straight. I?m seeing 65 degrees of lean angle today!! The banked corners obviously help but still it?s crazy figures!

Teamed up with a mate who does it regularly and had space in his van. We?ve got Mugello tomorrow for three days :)

    Mugello gearing

16/45 will very likely be too short. The main straight is 180-190mph on the RR. We're there next weekend :) I'm expecting to need 16/43 but will take 44 as well.

    Jetprime switches

As above, Tom T is the importer. I fitted them earlier this year and yes it is an easy plug and play. The only complication is its a right bitch to drill out the ignition barrel if you are fitting the kill switch and also for the switchgear you need to buy a tiny torx set. Otherwise it's very...

    Gen4 1 - 0 RSV4

Looks very impressive :) It never really occured to me before how well a drag strip can show up the important details that the pub figures dont tell you such as the way the power is delivered.

New 2019 BMW S1000RR: Rumour, Gossip and Intrigue...

Crazy as it sounds I was very thankful for heated grips only a couple weeks back riding home at midnight with not much gear on and have been on many occasions in the middle of summer when I had the RR on the road. It's easy to forget how uncomfortable it can get in northern Europe even in the...

    2020 R1 & R1M Revealed

Its just a newer generation bike and started getting popular for track and race now it's been developed for a few years, won stuff and there's second hand spares around. The BMW is at the end of it's development cycle and people are looking at the latest and greatest alternatives. It is a...

    Data logger

Thats the GPS I use, it works well. It updates ten times a second instead of just once a second on the phone which is pretty useless for anything other than ballpark figures. I dont use the setup on the bike anymore because it's a bit too much of a faff and I have the BMW 2D logger now but for...

    2020 R1 & R1M Revealed

Agreed with Alex's comments. The R1 is definitely the easiest litre bike to jump on and go fast. The corner exit electronics are way better than the stock BMW and it flatters the rider and has good feel all round. The BMW is a brute when you start riding it at the limits and quite difficult to...

French adventure & BMW S10000 RR touring trip ,, all good advice welcome (-:

Re: French adventure & BMW S10000 RR touring trip ,, all good advice welcome (-: +1 on avoiding a backpack. I like to have a backpack for personal stuff but I always strap it to the top of my tail bag. +1 on not needing to carry fuel although if it's just a litre then it could be useful. I...

    2020 R1 & R1M Revealed

I'm not usually one to comment on the looks but the first thing I thought was that I prefer the nose of the previous model! I've got a lot of time for Yamaha after racing the R6 and it's becoming very popular to race the R1 now but I don't get all that excited by them.
