Yes that was my point. Say for 40k you get Gen4 STK build, which altho doesn't have carbon frame is probably overall much better package. The extra bling of hp4 race is carbon fiber frame and better suspension I guess.

yea, lets be honest, you wouldn't buy one (same as the vr4 SL or rcv..) just to have as your track slag, you buy them for the "kudos" they have more than anything else.Well, for most people at least.

if you interested in the hp4 raace, known dazza for a long time,we've bought+sold a lot stuff together over the years, just sold him a trick blade in fact.

I?ll take two.... lol but 50k is still a lot of money.

sure it will be superceeded at some point

I'm still eagerly waiting for Luca's numbers on Gen4, he still can't make anything fast due to various mechanical problems.

But his all time best at Mugello - 1:51 was on Gen3 (not hp4)

His HP4 Race time is about 1:52

I understand you but I guess even if I had moneys to spare, I would still go V4R, but thats probably because I already own BMW and fancy something new.
I guess anyone who was Ducati owner can say the same about HP4 Race.
The only annoying issue with V4R is the noise.

Luca is doing 1:53 on a still slow bike (no top end power). Scroll to 6:50

I believe he has STK package that Alpha retails for 46k euros.

HP4 race/Gen3 era is over.

ahh ok,i'd best sell my gen3 then....
I guess what I meant, there is no point buying HP4 Race for silly money now. Alpha's deal on Gen4 provides a better bike overall. Shouldn't include Gen3 word there.

yep,but as we agreed, nobody would really buy a hp4 race for the track factor, more the bling factor.

i am giving some serious thought to a gen4 though, purely for the race electronics (would be a conveeted race bike already),but my bike has so much top end stuff on it,it would almost feel like a step back in terms of hardware on the bike, plus i love it!!.will have a serious look/think next year and see what crops up from any of the race teams

hp4 race wont ever have an era, it was just a project to see what could be done, just like many other exotica really.

The only thing BMW did wrong is make too many IMO. A run of 100 at double the price would have sold out. 750 was too many without a use case (race series).

Not really. It's pretty much STK spec with carbon frame and a bit more fancier suspension. Unless I'm missing something.

160kg with enough fuel for a session. Its got to be worth experiencing.

Wonder if you could make a business selling sessions on one. (Assuming the first person doesn't destroy it).

I think Shimmy would have done it if it was viable. The Ducati V4 he hires out is nearly double the price of his jap rentals

Shimmy rents what is cheap to maintain and repair. And I guess he charges money's for insurance? I would imagine it would be thru the roof for HP4

Well he has the V4S. He was getting the R but don't think he did in the end.
Has an R1M, M Sport BMW, Aprillia Factory, MV Agusta to name a few. I don't think you can class these as cheap to maintain.

Ofc you can. All of those are well commoditized.

last time i saw shimmy at jerez, lad took his brand new v4s out, trashed it (1k insurance payment but fixing would be a lot more)),then took his r1 out, same again.....i cant for the life of me work out how it actually makes money.

Nor me. I allways seem to end up in same garage as he knows my cround he looks to squeez in when he can.
Was at catalunya last year and he had an American lad fly in from the states who arrived late and went out after lunch, cock sure of himself went out and high sided half way round first lap. That was the gixer. About 2k damage
