Poor lad on the ZX10R US forum... been following the thread, all the usual least expensive options have been investigated..now he's down to whipping the head off...

i'm guessing it's a yanks way of cleaning the inside of the engine .....

No seriously, that's him filling the Rad and it's pouring out the sump... no water in oil... he's been round the houses with the obvious stuff... theres an even better thread on a 10R with low oil pressure.. no one sussed it till the lad finally did.

Surely no way, that seems like very clean water
Yea it is, it runs freely from the top of the rad...think he's put a few gallons down it to try establish where the problem is... compression test will show nothing if it's the jacket.

I've an alert on the thread.

Sand the oil pump??? Mad 'Mericans...I try to stay off all those Yank forums if I can help it, I just get annoyed at the crazy stuff they come out with.

I've had rubber gloves on pick up pipes and all sorts when stripping engines. We had an engine one time that kept over speeding and when we eventually found out the problem we found that some kids had put a handful of stones into the oil filler and they'd fallen into the front cover that holds the governor and was jamming the governor arm intermittently

Lol.. I read that too, theres another equally mad comment in there. Anyhow I thought the cause of the blockage was pretty funny.. Did you figure out what the problem was ?

Funny part is found obvious issue. Despite finding issue if you followed the forum you'd still fit....

Debatable upgraded oil pump

Shim the oil pressure relief

Replace the bearings

Longer car oil filters??

Lord Jesus down forget to burp the filter

First thing anyone with half a brain cell would?ve done would be fit an oil pressure gauge in the gallery to see what the actual pressure was

Took me long enough to work out what they meant by burping the oil pump.

Personally I would?ve been went:

Pressure gauge on the gallery and determine pressure.
Drain the oil into a completely spotless drain can and look for nasties
Check the pump drive
Sump off and inspect pick up.
Check the relief valve
Pump out and inspect

well if it's going directly from the rad to the sump cant see how it can be the water around the head/block as only goes round there once upto temp+thermostat opens the valve,i can only assume the impellar on the water pump (or something along those lines) has blown a hole through the case straight into the engine/sump.link upto that thread will you so can see whole thread.ta.

My train of thought on this (I'm onyl on page two) but if an oil lights on, then drain the oil, if it looks OK then either scope the pan or pull it and inspect the pickup(assuming you have the tools) it's very rare a oil pressure switch or valve will drop at that mileage, but how he drained the oil and didn't even notice any issues???

Also I take it this is two separate bikes? As I haven't came across any water issues yet
