I was going to write track day but it was over after 2 sessions!
First time with the RR and it was a brilliant experience and something Im going to book again.
The first time out I was sussing out the track and taking it all in and all went well, second time out I was on my third warm up lap when the front slid away with no warning whatsoever. Pretty gutting as I was going through the same corner with more speed previously.
The peg snapped off so that was the day over just as I was starting to enjoy myself.
The protection on the bike took almost everything, with only very light marks from the gravel on the side.
Ive been thinking for a while to only do track days instead of the road and it's brought it home how easy it is for something to go wrong, I'm really glad it happened on a track.

Bloody hell Loupe, sorry to hear that, what happened cold tyres? Should've been ok after 3 laps...

sorry to here that loupe bike held up really well , was it at knockhill? which corner?

I think it was a cold tyre/bit of track but hey ho I'm puting it down to an experience and can't wait to do again.
It was so easy to just let go and slide across, a real eye opener.
I'm going to take a positive from it and in a strange way I'm glad it happened.

Sorry to hear about the off, at least the bike doesn't look too badly damaged. One of the guys in my work crashed his bike at Knockhill last Friday.

it happens mate done the same thing at mcintyre was lapping well , with no warning lost the front, Duffus is the righthander at the end of the start finish? fast one?

it was a reverse circuit, think it's third from the hairpin

Sorry to hear that Loupe , glad you're ok and crash protection seems to have worked a treat.

It really did, only put the rearsets on a few weeks ago and it was a new Dainese suit.
Glad I was wearing it though, I'm sorted for a Hallowe'en costume this year.

Holy sh!t Loupe. Just read this, glad you're ok. Can't believe it, you having an off on your first trackday. Does seem bizarre losing the front like that, 3 laps can't be a cold tyre. Were you on the edge of the tyre? Did the TC not try and cut power before it went away from you? Perhaps some fluid on the track? It's not something I hear about on these bikes unless you are pushing it very hard and have TC off.

Glad you and the bike survived, you need Abs pro lol....

Not on the edge, no tc and no fluid. I wasn't on the brakes and was rolling on the throttle at the apex.
i know that as one of the guys said the marks from my peg started there lol
Maybe it was the dodgy tyre pressures Ryan gave me??
Really don't know why, I'll put it down to experience.

Sorry to hear Paul... As you mentioned, better to happen on a track that on the road,...and you walked away from it....

My first spill was against a fox,,, gave it too much of the right hand and low sided my bike ... Avoided the fox but nearly skittled 3 people crossing the road, 20 yards along....

A notch on the experience belt, that's for sure...

Glad you're ok Loupe, just read this. The crash protection was well worth the money, I can't think how it happened TBH, but if you walked away that was the main thing.

Hi Paul... just clocked the post mate... like the rest of the guys im glad your ok... your right about the could happen anytime comment..it is so easy... it does give you a wake up. My mate Rab binned his Gixxer thou the other day.. too wide into a corner grabbed a handful and lost the front end.. classic mistake...hes new to the game... bike slid into an M3... hes awrite as well.. bikes got some damage as has the car.. best thing is get back on it.. you were just unlucky.. Stu

Sorry you've had an off. Looks like you've gotten away with light damage. It still must be gutting. A red/white 2015 found the kitty litter at Donington. Think they carried on though.

Glad you are ok Loupe and have such a positive attitude to the crash. I came off on a small roundabout on the road a couple of years ago and it knocked my confidence for six as I couldn't work out why or how I hit the tarmac. After that I spent the next six months looking down at and worrying about any slight imperfection in the road instead of looking forward. Also it is reassuring to see the BMW crash protection has done such an excellent job of protecting the bike. My low speed off cost 2k as I had no crash protection. It was the first thing I specified to the dealer when I bought the new bike. Good to hear you walked away fine and are looking forward to the next one.

Unlucky mate. I've just shelled out on all the R&G bits for mine which most people have called me mad for, but seeing this at least reassures you it does the job if it's needed.
You've got the right attitude though, get back on the bike and enjoy it still.
