D.I.D ZVM-X Chain

I am currently using the 520 pitch version of the D.I.D ZVM-X Chain and it's very good. You may also want to approach Prime Factors Racing who can supply either 520 and 525 pitch D.I.D chains and take advantage of the forum discount available for Premier Members.

Chain Pitch

It refers to the size of the chain. OEM chains are generally always 525 pitch for durability. Chains used on race/track bikes are invariably 520 pitch which are much lighter and offer a greater selection of sprocket sizes for aftermarket wheels.

You need a 525 pitch chain for stock sprockets. For a 2015+ bike, it needs to be 120 links. You will also need a chain tool (DID copy on ebay ~?30), or get someone to fit it for you.

Ive just imported the ek 3d from the states for my track bike (cant find one in uk). If its as good as i think it is im swapping to one on the beamer as well.

What does the pitch refer to when talking about chains, excuse my ignorance. Can you replace the OEM chain with any of those suggested here without changing the sprockets?

525 would be 5/8" between chain pin centres, 2.5/8" between the insides of the chain plates (width). A 520 is a narrower chain (2/8") and would require you to change the sprockets to suit.

I am also thinking of changing my chain bike has done 3000 miles can I just change to a did 525 without needing new sprockets?
bike is just used for road so not sure if worth changing to 520 and doing sprockets as well?

I changed to a 525 did and changed rear sprocket only. I did it onky because i like the supersprox sprockets and left front alone.

My chain is good after 3400 miles, 5 track days and all weather riding. One small adjustment at a tyre change and it's running great. The only reason I can think of for this is a SCOTTOILER fitted from new. Works for new!

hi,i fitted the DID zvmx 525 last week with +2 rear talon, the oe went really slack at 700 miles and again at 1000??? ive used the DID on previous s thou without problems . Its easy to fit with a genuine DID tool which are ?100 +.
