Hi, I want to use a sat nav on my bike, but I can't seem to to get a male plug to fit the one on the bike, I've been to the BMW garage and they can't help! This is a pic of it.

What year is the bike? Can you take a pic of the other side of the plug, so I can see the wires

It's a 2015, I'll do the photo of the wires tomorrow, but I think two are blue

Sorry to jump on the band wagon, but where would the accessory plug be on a gen 1 2010 bike?
If you were to plug a ciggy lighter type socket into it,would you have power straight away?
Thanks.

You want this plug on the left side

When I looked in the manual it looked like the one on top. I thought the one you've got a picture of the wires is for the suspension travel. That's the problem it's not to clear in the manual

I don't know about the gen1 but it was in the manual for the gen3 page 136

The manual does say the bottom one is for fork sensor, I'll double check my bike tonight but I'm pretty sure I'm using the lower one

you need to order a patch lead from BMW dealer (?12) to connect satnav to can bus port on right hand side of frame. Double check with your dealer that your model of satnav will work as i beleive some Garmin models won't ...my old TomTom Rider and my new 410 work fine ;)

Or one from me for a tenner ;)

Hi Stephen any idea what power that left side plug puts out? I have the BMW lead and use my iPhone via a telferizer and ultimate addons case. The power direct from battery was enough to charge my phone even when using sat nav, but now I've wired in from that plug (for ignition switch purposes) it's only enough to slow the rate of discharge when sat nav on, and not enough to stop it. What is the third pin for?

That's interesting. I was hoping to run an I-phone satnav off that plug. I did wonder what current it can supply when I saw how thin the wires are. I think the third wire is a data line - the socket is for use with a GPS enabled datalogger I believe.

The third pin is for BMW satnavs on other models, but on the S I have no idea and I believe it outputs at 1A and your iPhone can take up to 2.5... you could use it to switch a relay and take your live from the battery, then you'd have unlimited power :)

Nippy Normans sell a plug in for the socket. I know the Garmin 390(350) LM will not work when attached to the canbus via the accessories socket. This is because the sat nav lead has a transformer box in the power lead which switches 12v to 5v. This tricks the canbus and keeps it live and drains your battery. I have the Garmin 390 so learnt the hard way. I just hardwired it direct to the battery and it has been fine.

According to Nippy Normans, only the 15-17 S1000rr,s have the aux plug fitted.

BMW never allowed for an aux lap timer or satnav plug on the 09-14 bikes.

Okay, I had a look at my bike this evening. The manual is incorrect, the bottom plug on the l/h side is for accessories. The plug on the r/h side can also be used but it's a different pin out.

Here is the one I sell, the wire colours are correct for the lower l/h plug, I can supply one for the right as well.

You would need to solder a 5v transformer or a 12v iPhone adaptor to this plug

You sure the manual is incorrect,
I'm not that good at soldering I think I might be better off just getting a Fused USB lead which connects straight to the battery. Thanks for your help though [emoji106]
