Cheers Oli new to this YouTube lark! Watched the video but not sure what I got out of it? Other than Dave repeatedly stating the front ends too soft I didn?t pick up any recommended sag settings. I?ll watch it again.

My pleasure Paul, I?ve been binge watching YouTube for many years [emoji23]
As Alex says it?s good to have an account with YouTube, both for access and organising useful content [emoji846]

I don?t believe you will gain anything further from either of Dave?s videos on the Gen 3 S1000RR, as they are too vague/general.
I believe he does refer to sag settings both front and rear (from memory) in the above video, however, sag settings can also be found in the owners manual.

If you wanted to visit a suspension specialist for a full setup, Daren at MCT suspension is by all accounts highly regarded

It wasnt taken as being anything more than some useful info you kindly shared fella so apologies if I came across as anything different.... I was pointing out that the original author?s use of the term chatter was questionable at best, and like you say, most likely experienced over a few pints. :)

No worries didn?t want to appear a big head!

A chance to help demystify in January for those near Leeds.

DMT Seminar

Most likely a worthwhile event for those that can attend and want to learn about suspension and tyre wear.

It?s shame it?s at the other end of the country. Is anyone from the group going to attend? Would be good to get some feedback on if Dave offers any light to the black art.

There?s a fast train to Leeds from London. Not sure if I can do it or not...

If you own a 2015+ this is probably worth the 99p to rent/watch.

Interesting fact so far - from the factory it comes with no pre-load so no wonder people struggle till they see a suspension tuner.

How can you actually rent it for 99p a watch ?

I only see an option to buy a full subscription for $40 a year...

Its all changed now, largely YouTube's fault.
Yes you have to go to DM's site and buy through there now.

Just found this topic.
So i read the gen3 is setup for a 85kg rider.
If thats true then thats answered why mine feels soft as im over 100kg

Springs

The bike is setup at the factory for what BMW consider an average weight. If you weigh in the extremes of this then you need to have the springs changed.

This is a good read for anyone interested in suspension. There's a handy troubleshooting section in the back of the book.

This is also an excellent book although it gets very technical so probably better for those who are more seriously into the subject or have a technical mind.

A few people have said ive done the wrong thing by adjusting my bike because its too quick/ flighty and unstable on corner entry.
But the funny thing is that according to that guide ive done exactly the right thing.
I added preload at front.
Dropped forks through.
Lowered rear end.
And wound up the steering damper and its a bit better.
I need the last thing it says a lesser offset and i should be done except a final suspension setup.

to me adding preload raises the front so be slower into turns,, drop forks will make it turn better,, lower rear end will make it turn slower same as raising the front??? steering damper cant see how that would make it unstable into turns, so basically youve got it sitting back like a chopper but dropped the forks through to try and compensate this? to me a would put back to standard and start all over again,
Think you might have missunderstood me. Its too quick to turn and too unstable so i adjusted it to try make it more stable which it is but only a fraction.
Ps moving things 3mm front and back is barely noticable as it only creates aprox 1mm of trail.
Ideally i want 4 to 5mm

Richard@ maxton is proper good guy, spent the day with me setting my bike up,and everything we/he did made a difference after explaining what it was doing, best handling bike i've had now (running maxton gp30 SBK forks+gp10 rear).

first and foremost, suspension, then have a play with everything else..
