Hi Guys and Girls. I've taken delivery of my race shift conversion for my HP4 carbon. It appears that I have to cut back part of the carbon bellypan and drill for the new shift arm pivot. Has anyone any experience with cutting and drilling carbon, best method etc? If it was plastic or fibreglass I wouldn't hesitate but haven't cut carbon before. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mikey
Carbon cuts and drills easy with sharp tools but be careful when you drill it as it can splinter as the drill comes out the other side. I usually use a small pilot drill and then go through part way from both sides to prevent splitting and then smear a bit of epoxy resin around the hole to seal the edges back up.

if you ok with GRP then it should not be much different.
Its epoxy resin instead of polyester , should be fine drilling it with a sharp steel bit , no mither
