think its quite clear in the manual, DTC only works while you're on the gas. It doesn't work off throttle. So theoratically it should only intervene (depending on the modes) when you're powering out and it detects wheel slip. I don't think anything can save you from a crash if you slide the rear under braking or from lift of oversteer.
Someone even said DTC will intervene to stop front end slippage.. :-X
