Hi I hope this is allowed. (If no please remove)
its about an s1000xr, I?m helping a friend out after his XR was stolen.
i have to replace the ecu and have found an ecu with matching Key. Matching year 2016.
anyway the question is:
will everything on his bike communicate with the new ecu?
or would I need to find matching key, ecu, lighting module and suspension module .
im a bit handy but this may be a bit of a stretch for me.
cheers Karl

I'm not sure if you need the aerial and or any other parts.
I'd ask someone like Phil Crowe or a BMW workshop.

I?ve always seen the bike as a big computer on two fast wheels. Replace a hard drive or ecu and you would think it should be an easy replacement however knowing the Germans and their coding most def not.

Echo what Alex says?I would contact dealer as first port of call for advice

Thank you for your reply. I imagine getting info from bmw won?t be easy.
thanks again though

Thank you for the advice. Could be a tough fix. Cheers

Don't see why, they will probably want some log book details, so have them to hand.
A tiner has probably done the swap before hence suggesting one.
Why isn't this going through insurance?
