Review of Mike 'Spike' Edwards', free-to-me, video tuition

Foreword: Mike offered to do a rider review (reviewing my footage on track) in exchange for a bit of social media coverage, he meant facebook/twitter, but I let him know I was a moderator on here and would prostitute myself and my position for anything. So here we are. You're welcome.

TL;DR great content here:

I'm sure it was the late Baz that put me onto the "How I Ride" series from Spike a few years back as I prepared for my first trip to Jerez - https://vimeo.com/showcase/7172577/video/432290087.
I've subsequently purchased half a dozen videos hosted on Vimeo, where all the 'purchased' content resides. Recently Mike announced he'd updated the contents for Snetterton and people could access it if they could provide proof of purchase. I quickly dispatched a mail and Mike turned around getting me updated in short order. In the mail was a few links to his different services, the Patreon where you can subscribe (?8.50/m) for unique online content, the v121pro rider tuition etc. I replied to say that I was interested in having a video reviewed but not right now as it was all shit LOL. IMO I simply had too few days on the bike and to demonstrate I attached the Donny laps, for him to take a look at but without committing to anything. Undeterred he made the offer for a little promo in exchange for doing it anyway.

This was the ORIGINAL video - https://youtu.be/vFtOtk_sFTU
Please watch it entirely, for no reason other than to boost my metrics :)
He ended up focussing on the lap starting at @3:45 as the others appeared to be 'warming up'. Hilariously my fastest lap of the day was the 1st full lap...but lets not split hairs, that was a messy one too!

First of all to note, he needs the original file not the YouTube one...he provides a WeTransfer site for the upload.
Second note - the best footage to use is forward facing looking at the clocks and through the screen. This helps him know what you're doing with the controls.
Via WeTransfer I received back a 54 minute investigation of a 1:48 lap, with the odd humorous side track for plugging the laptop in and Mrs Edwards suggesting he have a sip of tea to clear his throat!

As you can imagine, in 54 minutes there's very few stones left unturned. Once he's through the setup, we start the lap and he goes into detail about how my throttle.....to........brake coasting is costing time and my line into Redgate is OK but wrong...20mins in and we're now exiting Redgate  Detail, detail, detail and none of it is wasted. Forwards and back through the video with annotations on the screen to emphasis the points you're left in no doubt of what needs to be done next time. He's complimentary where he can be and ultimately summarised my riding as lacking speed and decisiveness, not the bike, the rider, do the things but do them more proactively, stop coasting physically and mentally. Whilst I wasn't surprised to hear this, I like the feedback. It's worth it to me, even more so if I'm going to visit the same track in a few days time, it's a lot cheaper than having track time with a coach but then the feedback there is immediate.

Of course, the easiest route to circuit tuition is his "How I Ride" series but there's one thing watching a Pro ride and then there's having your own tailored instruction, which is yours to watch and re-review over and over.

Whilst 2020 has been a stinker I am looking forward to 2021 and I hope to be able to get much more time on track. I'll probably invest in the Patreon in due course once I cancel some other subscriptions for other things and take advantage of his time and knowledge. At ?8.50/m you get access to riding techniques content as well a discounts on the How I Ride videos. Should give me things to watch during the colder, covid months whilst I dream of track time.

Have a look at the previews and if you like his no-nonsense style I recommend the work he does.
The regular price of a distance coaching session is ?95. Mike is currently offering a Combo deal of two online coaching tools, where people can have a coaching review session, plus a track download of their choice for just ?75.00 - saving ?45.
Offer details on the coaching website www.v121pro.com under the 'Online Coaching' option.

He did mine from a Mugello vid. Helped me see what i was clearly doing wrong and very instructive. Thogh i only shaved a few tenths off when I went back there this year.

Hearing, seeing and converting to doing...isn't the work of a moment.
