100%, that's not normal behaviour. It shouldn't overheat on the road. It's not that hot. I fear something is not right in that block.
 
I've done a few track days now since it happened to me, and not done it again.
I had it at the dealers a few weeks ago to be plugged in and no error codes or anything to report dispite a couple of different warnings.
 
What is the actual error message that pops up on the screen? As I have had something flash up recently and wondering if it's the same thing, and yes, it happened on a very hot day too.

It says something like there is an engine fault, please take your motorcycle to a specialist dealer for inspection.

It's a big orange warning which fills most of the screen.

Also the ECL (Engine Check Light) stays on even after you restart the bike.

This happened several times in Mugello last year, and then on my last session, the bike went into limp mode, in the middle of Puccini (the last corner), which was entertaining...

I have some codes I got from my GS911, which I have sent to Hexcode (who make the GS911), I am waiting for them to say what they think the codes mean.

My dealer is 3 hours away, I will wait on the outcome of the codes before I commit to taking it there, also, they had it for several weeks last time, and did not fix it.

Will update when I know more.
 
Hexcode got back to me, apparently the codes mean that the air inlet control flap has experienced restricted movement, which may be caused by insect or tyre debris ingestion.

I have reset the error codes with my GS911 and will ride it some more on the road, to see if the errors return and then take it from there.

Not really happy with this situation, I am loathe to book any trackdays, especially Europe ones only to find there are ongoing faults.

I think the inlet flap is known for throwing up fault? However it is not common from what i understand. You can get delete kits for the inlet flap which is pretty straight forward to install. The flap doesn't do much other than kill the intake sound below 6k RPM.

Shuey, did your EML stay on? Could be the exhaust flap, mine does it from time to time then goes off. It can be caused by the exhaust flap not opening or closing quick enough. For me it only happens on track as you're getting on the gas far more aggressive than you would on the road. Dealer confirmed this is the case with mine.

I have the inlet flap delete kit from Alpha Racing but I thought you had to have the ECU flashed to delete this function?
I have no exhaust valves as I have a full Akrapovic system, I have servo buddy plugs in there.

I?m thinking of getting a flash done and fit the flap delete, maybe an AIT relocate as well to move the temperature sensor to the front of the fairing.

Ah ok, but not installed? I do think you are correct and you do need it flashed to stop it throwing up the errors.

You probably would want to move the AIT sensor to the front of the bike where it is near ambient air. Stock it sits near the cylinder head i believe. Does Alpha offer a relocation kit? I ask because i am going to go down the same route as you.
 
Surprised Alpha don't offer one. Might be worth asking Fortis racing (UK alpha dealer) if they have anything. If not then yeah Brentune is cheap enough and shouldn't take long to get over.
