Hi guys. I?m hoping for some help, I came off my bike at Cadwell. It?s all fixed and runs fine BUT there?s an engine management light on. My local BMW independent specialist says that it says ECU configuration fault. He?s reset it, reconfigured the ECU and it?s still on. He has no idea what?s causing it. Has anyone else had this issue? Any help and advice on what could be causing it would be realli helpful.
If it?s important, when I came off I had to replace the engine casing on the right, the Google?s, bar end and indicator. The exhaust is impressively dented but is staying like that until my akropovic arrives. TIA

when he says config error,is that all it says on diagnostic? also what did he actually do re. ECU config?

Apparently that is all it says, he works for the BMW BSB team so has loads of experience but says he can?t work out what?s wrong. It?s running perfectly fine. He said he ?reconfigured the ECU and turned the light off? and it just came straight back on again 🤷🏻*♀️

i'd say try swapping the ECU over for another, not 100%sure if the are locked in with key+ign antenna though (i know ign +antenna are)

dealer might be you best bet,as from my experience with race teams they use either RCK+gs software, not BMW diagnostic stuff so dealer might be able to shed more light on it.

without seeing what the system diagnostic run says (as in fault code, sensor fault) it's hard to say for sure

I assunme the generic error: ECU configuration fault came off the RCK software. Try diagnosing it with the dealer software ISTA+. It will give you a more specific error and even mentions what steps should be undertaken to solve it.

If you cannot solve it, send me a PM.
