Hi! I bought a hp4 -13 track Bike this summer. Ive done 5 trackdays so far.
But im struggeling to get it to work for me. Im running in the lower part of the race groups. But im nowhere near my pb:s.

The biggest problem is mid corner to exit. I just cant get in the gas. The Bike slides och bounces in the rear.

Do you have any ideas how the bike should be setup?

Regards Linus

I would seek assistance from a suspension specialist to baseline the settings. You need to get the right springs for the kind of rider you are and your weight.

I know that this would be the best solution. But I cant find anyone who knows anything about the ddc. The guys thats faster than me and uses ddc just rides the darn things.

Im wondering if mine has been setup weird by last owner. And I was looking f?r advice in basic track setup. Front fork height and rear height.

Im 80kg without gear.

Zero everything in the menu (RESET ALL).
Set the static sag. Minimal for you at 80kgs.
Add +3 to rebound front and rear and +1 to compression.
Run DDC CALIB from the menu whilst on a stand and now external weight on the bike. This tells the ECU where it is starting from.
DDC 0 for your first run.

But that's just my opinion of a base line, get others.
Use a zip-tie on the front fork to note how much travel you are using.

Whats the factory settings on front fork height and rear excentric?

My rear is in the high position. (Raised rear)
And the front forks are flush with triple.

Rear preload was 3 turns from fully open and front preload had only one line showing.

Here is a picture of my front forks, they haven?t been adjusted since I bought the bike brand new.

I can?t get a photo of the swing arm adjustment as it has R&G covers on them.

Hope this helps with your forks.

maxton told me no one in bsb stockers runs the rear high, all low ,, bmw like to be run flat or tail down, full brakes and full gas thats the way they need to be ridden to get the best,,

+1, same as I have been told, flat is a good place to be with them. the front forks should be showing a couple of rings as per jimmys pictures and the rear needs setting per your weight with gear.

+2. The bikes geometry needs to be as flat as possible and a longer wheelbase is preferable to aid stability. The bike rewards you the harder you ride it.

Sounds like too much pre-load front and rear. Use the zip tie, I'll be amazed if you're going through 2/3's of the fork travel. I would wind it out to be more like Jimmy's. Fully out then 2-4 turns back in. Remember the DDC Calib after any geo change.
I would also reduce the rear by one.
The fork position sounds good for the eccentric bolt being in the high position, should give good ground clearance.

Thank you for youre help everyone!
I will set sag, set low rear and high front. New tires and hope that I can squeeze one more track day in this season. Hope that our second baby is a very very easy one ;)

What sag numbers are you aiming f?r track use on the hp4?
