Oil grade...

5/40 is the recommended grade but has any one used a different ? I ask as ive loads of Castrol power 1 fully synthetic knocking about and a track day before next service due ???
 
What is the XwYY rating of the Castrol you have spare?
5w40 or 10w40 should be ok. The latter is less protective on cold starts but is more stable on long runs.

ive plenty ( jaso ma-2 ) 10/30 power 1 racing
also power 1 racing 10/40 and 10/50

main reason is id like fresh oil and filter for a 3 day euro track day next month
 
I'd go with the 10w40 Power 1 Racing - you won't be 'cold' starting much. The w40 is the 'running' viscosity. So it should be the same as running the 5w40 when warmed up.
