Time for an update. I got a new tracker through the post after Datatool admitted that mine was dodgy and in fact hadn't worked for months. A man came to fit it on my driveway, arranged by Datatool. He had to phone a friend to find out where it was hidden, and then got his fingers stuck trying...

After an email prod to the dealer, I?ve had a call from Mr Datatool. My tracker isn?t working and will be replaced. Now waiting for bits and a man to come and fit. Nice to have the problem acknowledged. Still peeved to have had a year of grizzling to go through, as well as all the painful...

    2021 Metallic Storm black RR

Once you've had black, there's no going back. My CBR600RR is black. I thought I could cope with red for the BMW but those pics just makes me jealous.

    Cast to forged wheels

I don't really know, but I'd say quite a lot of cash and thicker brake discs. Racers don't like carbon wheels so you might actually find it cheaper to go carbon rather than forged, on the second-hand market.

I wish I'd kept this up as a record of the adventures. I feel a bit of a fraud browsing/posting on here when I've not ridden the bike for months. I read with interest the "disable tracker" thread where other victims talk of 3-4 day battery life, but my insurance is conditional on the tracker...

Hi Westy, You feel my pain. https://s1000rrforum.co.uk/showthread.php?14293-2019-Gen4-Owners-Manual Owner's manual pp 201-205 all about the battery, including the note "Connect a float charger to the battery if the motorcycle is to remain out of use for more than four weeks." Deep discharge...

You're probably right JM. I've made the point to the dealer that they should include a charger with the bike if that's really how it behaves (and asked them to raise a case with BMW for refunding me the cost of one!), but that doesn't alter the fact that some on here seem to do ok with the...

What if I?m staying somewhere for a week? it wasn?t all that long ago that my bike was my only transport. This is not an aftermarket alarm or the like. It?s a factory fitted tracker that wasn?t even an option. The owner?s manual says to put it on charge if it?s to be left more than 4 weeks...

Hi Shuey, I see your point, and raise it with a wtf? I bought the BMW charger at my RIS as advised. It's on it all the time. But the manual says if you leave your bike more than 4 weeks, you should consider putting it on charge. I've been a biker all my life. I've bought the BMW lithium...

Hi BBB, It's had a new battery (on the 3rd visit). I reckon if the battery can keep the thing alive with lights on and various whirring noises, just sat there for over an hour, then that's pretty good. Tracker is biggest suspect, but my insurance depends on it.

I've not grizzled about this for a while, but it's still not sorted. At the end of July, I left the bike at the dealer (4th time) so they could watch the battery go flat while I was on hols. When I went to collect it over a week later, I was told it had had an update and to go and fetch it...

I must admit that I haven't, nor has it been suggested by the dealer. I've been given to understand that the tracker has it's own battery.I get calls from the tracker folk when I've been checking on the battery and see the voltage drop on day 4, but nothing from them if I just leave the bike to...

I got a new tracker loom and a new battery fitted end of June, but no joy. It's going in again soon for the dealer to watch the battery go flat.

Progress. Dealer has had "extensive discussions" and a new wiring harness for the tracker is on order.

    Software version

App is cool when it works. You can turn off the recording of your speed, but you can replay your ride and see throttle position, revs, TC, ABS, lean angle, acceleration/braking measured in G, a flying dot on the map... it probably knows how many milligrams of tyre rubber you?ve shed.

That all sounds believable, if a little depressing. My dealer gave no hint that it was a known issue. I distinctly recall my insurance quote was very particular about the tracker. Arse.

It's a comfort of sorts to know that I'm not the only one with this problem. I've had the BMW charger since my run-in service (at a different BMW dealer). The battery was checked then and the issue raised with BMW who advised selling me a charger but not to bother putting in the replacement...
