    General maintenance after trackday

Personally, I put warmers on for 45 mins to an hour then warm up on my first lap with real hard acceleration and braking when upright to get the heat in everything (tyres, wheels, discs, pads & suspension) and then you're good to go.

    General maintenance after trackday

This is my schedule, some might find it helpful. A bit anal but I write everything down in little lists like this so I don't forget. Post it notes and whiteboards with scribbles everywhere! Track Bike Maintenance Clean, lube and adjust the chain daily Check all fairing bolts daily Check...

    Trackdays (Newbie question)

It's no riskier than riding on the road wrt crashing. Ride within yourself and enjoy it! Nobody is forcing you to go flat out everywhere, you know what your limit is. I have in the past ridden to and from trackdays and just treated it like a fast rideout, with no traffic/coppers/potholes/blind...

Can you fit alpha or crc track fairings to a bike with the standard exhaust?

I was told Phil Crowe could supply an Arrow system for the 2017 model at a decent price and Prime Factors recommended to just have stainless headers to keep cost down. Bit heavier than titanium ones but no different wrt power or noise. I've also been told that with baffles in, the Arrow long end...

    Best ever bike you've owned

2010 KTM 990 SM-T, still looking for another at a decent price. Comfy, fast enough for the road and once the fuelling and suspension was sorted it was an incredible bike. Strangely, never needed to change the front tyre.......but then again it was waving in the air most of the time :-)

    Tyre pressures

As mentioned above, speak to the tyre guys on the day. They'll give you the best advice according to the temperatures, your pace/group and your tyres. Best tip I have from a tyre/suspension guru is no to dawdle back to the pits when you're finished your session, continue at your usual pace...

    Mikes Bike: 2017 S1000RR Sport Black/Grey

Very tidy that Mike, what Kriega loops are those attached to your rack? The subframe loops? I alway seem to end up with loads of strap flapping all over the place with mine.

    Brembo M50 Caliper

I can't understand it? Aprilia, KTM, Ducati etc all using the 2 pad Brembo caliper but BMW decide not to. Definitely not much in it performance wise as far as I can tell so can only imagine it's something to do with cost? Z04s are steep anyway but prohibitively expensive with the standard...

    Brembo M50 Caliper

Re: Brembo Calipers I'm in the same place, standard brakes are stonking but I'm not a fan of the very expensive 4 pad system. I'm on the lookout for some genuine M4s as they'll pay for themselves in a couple of pad changes. Other than that the only thing I'd change over standard is the fluid &...

Cylinder 4 con rod and crank damage after 4000 miles

That sounds repairable to me, might need a conrod and new bearings. Perhaps some regrinding of the crankshaft. Seriously, get in touch with a decent engine builder and see if they can help. I'm travelling from Glasgow to North Yorks in my van every month and am at Cadwell regularly so can help...

Cylinder 4 con rod and crank damage after 4000 miles

I'd be surprised if the engine was irrevocably damaged unless the casings or cylinder have been severely damaged. Have you seen it? Any pictures? John Clark are a main dealer aren't they, in my experience a main dealer always recommend replacement rather than repair for any faulty part. Easier...

    Held Titan Gloves Review

Aye, luckily all of the other measurements were within a couple of mm from a standard size.

    Hideout Leather Review

I stuck with standard colours though Alex, as soon as he told me the price difference for my preferred scheme vs off the shelf white & black he had in stock......the Aberdonian in me came out #tightjock

    Hideout Leather Review

This is where Held go above and beyond for me. I was an almost perfect size 9 glove, but my right thumb is a bit misshapen. Instead of charging me the full amount for their custom made to measure service (usually around 30%) they merely sent the gloves back to Germany for some adjustment to the...

    Hideout Leather Review

AM Leathers made a cracking suit for a mate of mine, he's been very impressed so far.

    Held Titan Gloves Review

Don't get me wrong Oli, the Full Metal are great gloves but they just don't feel anywhere near as solid as the Titans do.

    Held Titan Gloves Review

Great review Oli, I've got some custom Titan Evo gloves too (my right hand is a weird shape due to injury) and there is nothing else like them on the market. Built like a tank, comfortable, top quality materials. I know a mate of mine has crashed multiple times in his with very little damage...

    Tt 2017

We were in posh bell tents in Douglas so whilst it got a bit wild never got wet or too windy. What a week though! Great racing, excellent trails and an all round good time. Got a guided lap of the course with Steve Parrish which was fantastic, riding round with earpieces in while he told us...
