My New Bike - S1000RR - But Which Exhaust???

Shorty. If the long can was carbon might go the other way but as it is definately the shorty

    TC just saved my arse!

Just went out for the first time this year, haven't ridden for 3 months. For the first time ever I nearly done a cold tyre high side. Pulled off the drive, hooked second and off it went, not going quick as still in a residential street and it stepped out badly, luckily the TC kicked in and...

What have you done to your bike today

You sir above are a tart. Looks very nice all in carbon, if you hadn't beaten me to it I could have been tempted my self. I've refitted the belly pan and exhaust, replaced the missing heel plate bolt, another clean and polish, blown the tyres up and lubed the chain. Weather looks good tomorrow...

    Carbon wheels

I got the carbon wheels too, love them, took a while to adjust the suspension to compensate for the faster turning in but fantastic overall. The biggest noticible difference of anything i've ever done to a bike.

    Standing start

Dont forget to cover the rear brake, just in case ;)

A tail of woe My ride on Sunday

Does the bike not have a t25 torx in the toolkit or have you removed it?

    16.6in Wheels

17 inch tyres are pretty damn good at the moment but I suspect the development of them will go up a notch next year with wsb switching

    motorcycle live

If you view the image in photo bucket look for the links to the right of the page, I think the image code is the bottom link. Click it and it should automatically copy then paste into a forum reply And yes the hp4 looked very nice, you'd have to splash the extra on the carbon though, my biggest...

    Newbie wanting advise

There's loads of full systems about, I've got an Austin racing gp2 system but they also do a system that cuts the cat off the stock headers and puts a y pipe in its place, goods gains and weight saving as the cat is the heavy bit. Not that expensive either.

Horse power on the move (this is a trick ?)

I have top to tailed two bikes in a narrow trailer before but it is a pain to strap down if doing it regularly. The ideal solution would be one wide enough for two front wheel clamps that you could set up with removable fixings and remove when doing horsy things.

Keep us posted, be interested to see how it ends up. What else are you planning for it?

Maybe r and g should do a parachute tail tidy! Could be useful I only done the ohlins front and rear because someone offered me a ttx rear and front internals sprung to my weight for a grand out of an ex race bike but it was a noticeable difference in ride quality and how the bike holds its lines

Gyroscopic effect, those were the words that I'd lost ;) I was only offering some sort of explanation behind what I was suggesting, in my opinion there's nothing worse than people just shouting there favourite mods and products with no reasoning behind there suggestion. Until I bought the s1k...

    Newbie wanting advise

Road and track days, not quick enough to race but have fun trying What I mean on the wheels is if you held a bicycle wheel by its spindle and rotated it across its axis ie leaning on a bike, it is easy if the wheel is not turning, if you spin it then it becomes harder to turn, if you made it...

    Newbie wanting advise

FYI unsprung weight is weight below the springs ie wheels, swingarm, callipers, discs and pads etc. Lower unsprung weight allows the suspension to work easier by having less mass to move so it can respond quicker to the conditions. Lighter wheels have less rotating mass meaning less...

Wheels, ohlins internals and rear shock. Massive improvement over stock, the exhaust was the last thing I done to mine, the bike is hardly slow but the difference in ride quality and handling is superb. I done a back to back with my tuned 2011 and a stock 2012 and the difference was massive. I...

    Hi from Bedford (ish)

I know what you mean, i go on them sometimes but only if i'm up for a gentle one as the pace tends to be a bit tedious at best, have a few mates that i go out with instead, we dont worry about keeping up with each other, if some want to go quicker than others then they just wait at the next...

    Constand frame lift

I shall be prepared for fiddling and be extra careful with it. A couple of weeks ago i had the back end apart changing swing arm pivots with the sub frame hanging off the garage roof, brushed past the bike and knocked the bars, as i did that the bars turned and the bike tipped very quickly...
