    Thinking of buying a 2023

Once in Pro Modes you effectively switch off the DDC, it stops being "active". Or reduced in "activity " by 90%. You may as well have the standard forks. And as Alex points out, you also switch off some of the road functions. Its bonkers and is the (only) main gripe I have.

    Thinking of buying a 2023

Ah, Pro Modes, that explains it then. Thanks. Doesn't really help me as I ride in the road modes on the road. I think the switch from Sachs DDC to Marzocchi was a retro grade move. I'm still struggling with the fact you can spend ?25K on a bike with no ability to alter the suspension while in...

    Thinking of buying a 2023

Did Perry say what adjustments he made? Did he give you a list of "before and after " adjustments? I too find mine too firm, but, with the DDC its not possible (as far as I know) to adjust the actual damping. Changing the front or rear ride hight won't make the bike softer. There is also no...

Best time to get out on the road

Ha, The neighbours must love you 2!!

    Thinking of buying a 2023

Is this for a DDC version? What do you mean by set up? I'm asking as there is virtually nothing to alter other than make it stiffer with preloaded.

    Offset rear wheel

I thought it was the clutch cable "pushing" the left handle bar that caused the bike to steer right slightly. Every S1K I've had has done it.

    Offset rear wheel

That is odd, are they cast wheels Wull? I'm sure my carbon wheels are not like that, but I'm getting prepared to be provided wrong!

    Front USB Optional Extra

There are actually two plugs underneath the LHS fairing. One is for "optional extras" the other is for the fork 2D sensor. I think they are next to each other

    Rear sets

Sorry B man, I wasn't correcting you. Poorly formed sentence by me.

    Rear sets

I always thought the official BMW M rear sets went lower than standard? Thats Gen 4, which doesn't help here.

    Thinking of buying a 2023

Congratulations on the new bike. Going back to your original post, whats your plan for the suspension? I might end up in the same position.

    Gen3 to Gen4 - What to avoid!

If you're looking to do a lot of that I'd suggest a unicycle rather than a Gen 4......

    Gen3 to Gen4 - What to avoid!

I've got a late 19 gen 4, 17K miles now. I've had a couple of minor recalls which have simply been sorted at service. Only main issue was with the knock from the fork. There is now an updated unit which BMW are retro fitting. I don't think its had any more issues than other manufacturers with...

    Thinking of buying a 2023

I've looked at both bikes, and while fantastic bits of kit, simply don't tick as many boxes for me as the RR does for how I use it. From memory the V4S does not have heated grips or cruise. Again, I know they are track bikes, but the RR has them. I guess I'm just spoilt!

    Thinking of buying a 2023

I'm pleased UKbmw started this thread. I was half heartedly looking to swap my Gen 4 for another one with a few less miles. The final decision was going to be on if I was able to get the suspension sorted for me riding predominantly on the road. I'd wrongly assumed I'd be able to get the...

    Thinking of buying a 2023

Could you clarify your second paragraph please Alex. Are you saying if I wanted to put lighter weight springs in my Gen 4, with DDC, I couldn't, as it's not possible to buy them?

    Different between gen4 to gen5

Thanks guys. Not sure I should even be thinking about which bits swap over!!
