Good evening gents,

I have really enjoyed being on this form, only been on for 2 weeks. I don't know if this has been done before was just thinking if we had custom made form T shirts and a small fee went towards the form etc ? Just a though any ideas ? This has maybe been done before I'm not sure am I'm just new here.

Cheers
Ross

I think some logo'd forum gear would be welcomed - especially if you could wear it as biking gear. I did suggest a similar idea to the 44teeth guys (fagan) as they have their own kit (hoodies etc) but they're not 'bike-safe'. This firm here : http://www.roadskin.co.uk/ claims to have excellent quality casual/biker gear which I reckon, if they're as good as they claim, would benefit from a few more people using them. I cannot vouch for their kit as I've never bought any - I was planning on it but they moved their distribution centre from about 6 miles from me, to about 200 miles from me (hope it wasn't personal) and I prefer to try my stuff on before purchase instead of arsing about with mail order.

Anyway - a long winded way of saying "yes, i think it's a good idea" :apathy:

I have looked at this before but happy to have another look if there is demand.

If anyone knows anyone who does this I am happy to take recommendations. I'll look into the roadskins company.

Big no no using third party logos etc without permission. Most if not all printers will refuse an order where you are unable to prove you have permission to use copyrighted materials.

We can only use logos from the forum.

Good question.

With something like stickers for bikes the revenue 'loss' to the brand is negligible and it is free advertising so they tend to turn a blind eye.

Buying decals off the web from 3rd parties: strictly speaking the printer/supplier is infringing copyright (unless they have written permission) and would be subject to proceedings should BMW choose to do so. Usually this takes the form of a cease and desist communication before matters go further. The two big problems for the big corporates trying to protect their IP is tracing the sellers as often the production is done in the far east (China) where IP is assigned about as much respect as Trump's haircut, the other problem is that a seller can shut down, rename and reopen in minutes on somewhere like ebay.

When the branding is used to sell something it moves the game on where the product has significant value. For example, selling a hoodie for £40 branded as BMW would be asking for trouble.

You also need to bear in mind that the point of protecting IP is more than just a commercial 'I want all the money' attitude by the IP owner. They are trying to ensure that their brand maintains integrity. For example, the hoodie above, if it was made really badly and the logo was perhaps a bit crap then anyone seeing the garment would have the perception of the brand being a bit shite, not high quality, etc. Brand owners want control over their brands to protect from that sort of activity.

That's also why the forum only has forum logos and artwork and no BMW logos (unless uploaded by members) in case BMW took exception.

Hope that makes sense :).

I think I have found a t-shirt solution for us, but its early days, will keep you guys posted.

I'm sure it was a guy called Pittys Vinyls (I think) who did the last hoodies we had a few years back. I put a post on a few months ago about resurrecting the idea, but not much interest then

It was Pittys that do the merchandise for the fireblade forum and it was all good stuff.

No. Had a look on the r1 forum but didn't see anything that looked like what's being discussed.

I want to set up a simple webshop so you can order your own size etc online and have a 3rd party fulfil the order but have drawn a blank finding anyone who can do this for the forum so far.....

What about customised forum baseball caps? I think they'd work out around £10 each with delivery for a cotton one embroidered if I got some volume? I haven't gone into it in detail but it is an option if members think its a good idea?

A chap posted on the US Facebook page about interest in an s1k hoody.

Looked the business, I'll try and see how that is progressing as it was a decent black hoody with the Alien logo

Andy thanks for looking into and helping sort this. You are a star!

I think if you getting t shirts done it would be a good idea to put a s1000rr bike on and not an R1 (have a look at the t shirt) lol
