Not the usual bike shots but some nice recent pics from my work, taken from a dive support vessel.

from left to right
Safe Boreas accomodation flotel, semi submersible.
BLP platform, new platform, hook-up and construction in progress.
Montrose Aplha production platform, 40 years old and showing its age but still going.
Noble Regina Alan Drilling Jack-up, providing additional accommodation to support the project.

Total people working offshore at anyone time is circa 800 including marine vessels. A lot of negative news around the U.K. oil industry just now however still a couple of large scale capital projects ongoing and thankfully providing employment for a large number of people. Production through the BLP platform will extend field life to around 2032.

cheers,
Stevie

Stevie, I have just clicked..........

I think we definitely worked together on the rigs, I was on the Lomond as a Tiffy just after leaving the RAF, my best man Jimmy Frame was also on it working as a sparky. If my ageing memory serves me right you were related to Christine and Stevie Brown through marriage. The other names I remember were Paul? Costelloe a Canadian who liked taking photos, John Scott from NewBiggin by the Sea, Martin a really loud Geordie? and Glenn Stillaway. There was also a young Aberdonian laddie who's name escapes me who kept arguing that his bahco spanners were better than my snap-on, lol. Its all coming back to me now.

Are you the same Stevie?

Or is my medication making me hallucinate.

Also on Tiffany and shuttled in from the Balmoral everyday.

Here's a couple of photos I have just dug out.

I'm sure this was the Lomond, I'm second from bottom.

Great images Stevie..closest I've been to a rig was on the ferry back from a European trip finishing in Stavanger, Norway. Theres loads of them between Scotland and Norway.

We must have worked together at some point Jimmy, don't know a Christine and Stevie Brown though, I was just a laddie then, about 20 - 21. Can just about remember some of the other names you mention, I was working up in gas compression commissioning the compressors with the vendor, paired up with a Welsh lad for the few trips I was there but I can't remember his name. The safe supporter was there, it broke its anchors during high winds when I was on shore leave. My abiding memory of the Safe Suporter was porn on in every TV lounge 24 hours a day :welcoming:

Do you remember Nasty Bob (Bob Richardson I think it was) the GF? He is still going and doing the same job for AMEC, couldn't believe it when he turned up on my platform after all these years. I spent about 4 trips there before heading up to the Brent's and the Magnus for the next 4 or 5 years.

Cracking photos Jimmy, just checked and I was on the Lomond late 92 until about April/May 1993

Thats right Stevie, I left the RAF in March 1993 and was on the rigs until October that year. Just phoned Jimmy Frame and he reckons you served your time with BP working with "Bananas Simpson" who was married to Lorraine Brown, thats where I was mistaken.

I remember Big Bob, to be fair he was alright with me when he caught me clambering aver the fire pumps the size of buses with no safety hat on, it was my second day. Haha
Small world.
