Last few days I've noticed my key is not smooth pulling it in and out of both my pillion seat and the ignition, feels as though it's grabbing, had my mate try it as well when we were out tonight, he also thinks the same...any one else had this..

can't find my spare to try it..

Assuming this isn't a euphemism for your gay porn addiction....try some wd40 down the barrel push the key in and out a 50 times then use lithium grease and repeat. The locks get sticky over time.

Lol... it feels bone dry Alex.. I was speaking to a guy with a 9RT last night and he was telling me that the locks are infamous for seizing up ? Cant recall anything like that on here

Its worth noting the pillion seat lock is 2 weeks old ?.

My fuel tank lock seized took the guys doing the MOT half an hour of putting the key in and out + wd40 to free it.

WD40 (or similar) down the lock barrels (ignition, filler cap, seat cowl) after every wash and make sure the key is not in when you wash the bike.

Never had a problem with any of my BMW bike keys and locks in 7 years, the guy with the 9T was talking bollocks. Think I've lubed the hp4 locks 3 or 4 times using wd40 in as many years. Just needs lubricating every now and then as described above.

It could be the key has worn slightly but I would be very surprised. If you are lubing the locks regularly and the mechanism feels stiff the only other thing could be the key is very slightly bent. Dealer?

Gay porn - good one Alex, lmao.

i find wd40 can leave a residue that after a while can go really dark and gloopy... certainly not good in the barrel

My key is grabby in the pillion and fuel tank most times... got used to it now.

Stearing lock doesn't work any more mind! dealer couldn't see what was up..just jammed up and you have to wiggle it for ages to get it on

And then inserts his bent key... fnar fnar :D

Saw the 'bent key' condition while enduring an episode of 'Embarrassing Bodies' recently, Peyronies disease it's called - most unpleasant, takes more than a squirt of WD40 and a bit of straightening in the bench vice to sort that out :eek-new:

Hehe youd never guess this was a thread about keys

This has gone the way you wanted it to, ya perv.

I've got a wee tin of "lock lube" I'll give you on Friday Stuart, you might be disappointed but it wasn't from Ann Summers.
