Security day for bikers in Chesterfield 22nd April 2012

Bikers across Chesterfield are being invited to a security day as part of a police initiative to cut thefts.
An event offering reduced price property marking kits and security equipment for motorcycles and scooters is being held at the B2net stadium on Sunday, April 22.
The ‘Ride Secure’ initiative is aimed at reducing the number of thefts of motorcycles and scooters across north Derbyshire.
Alpha Dot, a company that specialises in security marking for motorbikes, will be at the event and offering their kits at a reduced price.
The kits place a unique forensic code on items making it easy for the police to detect stolen vehicles, parts and property.
Bike owners are invited to attend the stadium’s car park from 10am to 4pm to have their bike marked and receive crime prevention information from police. Other security equipment will also be on offer.
Police Community Support Officer Steve Bircumshaw, who is organising the event, said: “As the weather improves people are using their motorbikes more frequently and they are often left vulnerable to criminals.
“We want people to be security conscious and this event is about increasing awareness. If a thief knows your bike is traceable and security marked, the chances are they will leave it alone.”
There will also be a free prize draw with prizes including two match tickets for Chesterfield FC.
For more information about the event contact PCSO Bircumshaw on the police non-emergency number 101 or email [email protected].
