Just phoned Bmw for price of a air filter for hp4 it works out the same as a k&n, can I get the OEM filter cheaper. It was ?35. Also front pads were a kings ransom ?151 extortion.

You'll need 2 packs of either of these - depending on your type of usage and caliper variant;
Street
2010-2014 = http://www.carpimoto.com/en-GB/Bike...33SA-Sintered-Street-2-couple-for-1-disk-.htm
HP4 = http://www.carpimoto.com/en-GB/Bike...37SA-Sintered-Street-1-couple-for-1-disk-.htm

Occasional Track Days
2010-2014 = http://www.carpimoto.com/en-GB/Bike...33SC-Sintered-Racing-2-couple-for-1-disk-.htm
HP4 = http://www.carpimoto.com/en-GB/Bike...37SC-Sintered-Racing-1-couple-for-1-disk-.htm

They ship from Italy very quickly - used them a bunch of times including shipping new discs.

Stick the filter part number in here - you won't find it cheaper - but you may still decide to go with K&N;

I didn't get on too well with the oe pads, went with Brembo BMW Sintered SC Compound Front Brake Pads For Fast Road & Track Use 07-BB-37-SC. ?144.10 delivered.

Still expensive I guess but kinda important to be able to stop!

If you do a search for 'front pads' there are plenty of threads on here.

You're not wrong!

Works out about ?80 incl shipping from carpimoto. I don't get how on earth can they be 50% cheaper?

Doesn't the HP4 take different pads to the 2012-14?

If it's any consolation the prices has dropped since I bought them 2months back from here. Euro weaker?

No-one tried SBS Street Excel pads then?

I swapped from Brembo pads on my Aprilias, not just because of the price but because I always found that the initial bite on them could be extremely harsh, I stumbled across someone else using SBS Street Excel pads and whilst I had used SBS pads before I was a bit sceptical of dropping down from ?100 to ?50 to replace both sides (the Aprilia used the same 4 pad per caliper setup as my S1000RR ones on the 2014 bike I have.

I was more than pleasantly surprised and took them on the track too and they stop on a sixpence but without the intial throw you over the bars grab that the Brembo's had given me, no fade whatsoever and they lasted extremely well and worked fantastic in the wet and cold too.

Couldn't fault them! and they will be going in my bike in the very near future given that the original Brembo's look to be at least half way gone :)

Incidentally after doing a bit of reading up on them to try and convince myself about trying them, it turns out they are extremely popular in the Irish Road Racing scene, with the Dunlop brothers using these, if they stop a bike with either of them pair riding them they are well worth a try for road riding in particular :)

I am using the SBS870HS pads in the front at the moment - whilst initially they were great I found they suffered on the track. This is why they are coming out for some Brembo SC's. If the SC's can't cope with the way I brake then, after a long discussion with Performance Friction I'll be trying their Compound 95 next, before stepping up to track only pads like Z04's and PFC13's - I'm happy to test these things out :)

The SBS's were good on road with better bite than stock IMO.

Yes HP4 does take different pads, I searched on the website for the ones I bought.

Euro is up and down but significantly down in the past year, great for holidays :)

When you say they suffered on the track in what way? fade? :)

I got on fine with them on a Mille to be honest which ultimately I find harder to stop than the BMW particularly as it feels a bit lardy in comparison :D

Those guys have brakes??? lol.

I think they use them occasionally :D

I can see the benefits on the road racing scene as they tend to have some stupidly long straights where pads would cool down a lot more than on the track so I assume that is why they use them :)

You know what. I'm forgetting to add vital data here! Oops.
BMW diagnosed a potential issue with the MBC late this year. They advised me to monitor it but probably change it. I am now about to fit a Brembo RCS19 (18/20) as well as the pads.

I should probably say - I have no opinion on the SBS's as to be honest my experience with them was clouded by this potential issue with the MBC. I experienced a couple of run-ons and was getting significantly out braked by equal machinery. Which is particularly frustrating when I quite like hitting the brakes, hard.

I'd need an Admin to sort out my misinformation now as 5mins has elapsed. Sorry.

Calipers

Yes; both the brake calipers and pads are different on the HP4 and S1000RR models.
