Hi,

Looking to get one of these strange S1000RR things & wondered what peoples experience was of the dealers in the North East / Yorkshire region?
Only experience of BMW was with warranty on wifes car & Cooper Teesside were atrocious & BMW customer service were no better.
Is this the same at all the bike dealers as well or are some OK?

Is there an independent doing BMW servicing anywhere in NE / N. Yorks area?

it must be a cooper thing as the tunbridge wells one has a right shitty attitude when you get a problem.
sorry no help to you whatsoever.

Hi paul1098, I had a ridiculous encounter with coopers of sunderland when I was looking for the bike originally in 2010. In the end i gave my money to Alan Jefferies of Baildon west yorkshire - I have had no troubles at all with the bike in the 12 thousand miles i've had it - therefore cannot really say about what they would be like if you had a problem - but as ar as normal dealings and servicing they have been very good.

I posted a little bit ago looking for alternatives nearer my home - not because of their dealings - only because of the travel for services and such.

Always got a courtesy bike - last one was a new 2012 model which I has for two days! (they may have been thinking they could get a sale out of it?) but in the end no complaints.

I now alternate between them and Motorrad Central in Edinburgh - again no issues - although very early days with MC.

Hope this helps............BB

Had dealings with Mottorrad Central Edinburgh at there anual TD at Knockhill & talked to the owner. Seemed a nice bloke & would probably use them if they were not so far away. Will have a look at Allan Jefferies. Heard there was someone in York that did BMW.

I've been used to travelling for servicing on the Ducati but was hoping for a bit more local with the BMW. I suppose it's a bit more straight forward & less specialist than Ducati's so maybe any bike shop can service them.

Think you only find out how good a dealer is when you turn up with a problem. Always found Ducati & it's dealers to be brilliant when it comes to any warranty issue including replacement of a radiator more than a year out of warranty without even needing to argue. Cost & uncertaintly over the new Pan is making me head down the S1000RR route.

Coopers of Sunderland have been ok with me service no probs . Also changed indicator switch under waranty.Always going to be expensive coffe and biscuits with BMW.They talk nice and seem ok gave me a car to go to Newcastle to look at other bikes. jack sprat

Not too concerned about cost of coffee & biscuits after owning a Duke. As long as quality of servicing & ability to deal with warranty issues are OK.
Coopers Teesside have nice blonds to look at & decent coffee but after that it goes down hill. Would never deal with them again with a car. If coopers sunderland are different OK but coopers head office didn't seem to be brilliant.

Hey matey, it's not quite Yorkshire but i use Astle BMW which is in Laceby (not too far from Grimsby). Ive had 2 lots of warranty work done, both times switchgear, and one service from them. Service was a 6K one plus change of brake fluids and off the top of my head was about £170. Ive always found them good to deal with and have always been given a loaner, there's some good rds round there ;)

I have not had a problem with the sunderland coopers and the tea, coffee and biscuits are all free ;) but the servicing and bikes are a bit pricey.

Grimsby might be a little too far, west yorkshire is closer.

Doesn't surprise me that Coopers are expensive for bikes & servicing as there is no competition in the NE.
